Odd Code Reading: Fab Vrs Mark one

Featured Replies

Hey i know this is probably not the best place to post but it has not got a response in the Fabia 1 forum so want to throw this out to the board as a whole. Quick scenario of what happened. Engine emissions warning and glow plug light came one after full bore acceleration (overtaking using 4800 rpm in second and third) but no loss of power (i.e engine did not go into limp home mode) and the engine feeling fine afterwards. Plugged in a code reader and got the following. Can't remember the number but the description was this:

"Ignition/Dist engine speed input circuit."

Now I am not a major engine tech expert but I do know that Diesels do not have ignition distributors! We cleared the code and I took the car on a 10 mile drive and the light has not come back on. Does anyone have any ideas? We think it might just have been a glitch or a sensor but I am worried it is something more sinister. There might be a Fabia Vrs Mk 1 up for sale soon if anyone is after one as I am considering just getting a little runaround. At 7 years old it is coming to the age where it will need money (that I don't have) throwing at it.
