Issues can be absolutely anything that you have had to take back to the dealers ( not diy fix )from a minor irritating rattle to a major fault.

Got issues with Poll - please Ignore this post while i try to resolve

Ignition switch that prevented the car starting... not very useful. Also, coolant temp sensor... but apart from that, fine. :)

What if it was bought privately? I doubt many Mk1 Octavia owners would take their car back to a Skoda dealer to be fixed. Your poll seems to suggest that if you have loads of faults but fix them yourself then everything's OK?

In my case I've had several things go wrong with mine and I'd probably not get another Skoda, but at the same time I've never had to return it to a dealer.

Polls flawed as it makes me vote on the diesel section too.

Well, I intend to keep mine until it dies completely, but that said, with all the trouble it's been, I will never buy another Skoda. Or anything else VAG probably, for that matter.

Same here so not voted but not really had any major problems, changed thermostat and bushs but think thats more age related than anything else,

Its only been to dealers once since i've had it and that was to program new keys and fobs in after some theiving scum broke into our house and helped themselves to my car keys and them drove off in my car altho it was found in less than 24 hours thanks to the power of car forums and its eagle eyed members

No probs for me! touch wood! only thing was coil pack campaign yet my old ones were fine, no issues.

oh, sorry, wife reminded me, had an advisory on mot bush wearing on front lower arm, no play just looking worn.

Hi there, sorry not quite sure of the point of this poll.

As it is not going to capture most common issues or problems that folks DIY. As other than that most of these cars run pretty well and trouble free.

If i read right don't include DIY which most folks with a car up to 11 years old will do if they are basic mechanic savvy.

Only time I took mine to dealer was to replace water pump when the impeller broke. And to fit a new drivers door catch as door had slightly dropped. Or am I the odd one out...

But based on your voting question i have answered a vote

Edit.... I could not vote as it was expecting me to select every question, which again is pointless.

I agree Bowders. The OP seems to have spammed this same question across multiple forums. You can't compare the level of ownership satisfaction of someone who has probably taken out finance to buy a brand new Octavia II with someone (like me) who spent 2 grand as a cheap runaround Mk1.

Based on my experience I would not by another 10 year old Skoda (or other VAG), but I may consider paying more for a newer model.
