Connector clips broken

Featured Replies

I believe I have the alternator sense wire issue.

Yesterday I had a quick look and where the black connector of the sense wire there is also a brown connector and this had a wire broken (anyone know what this connector is for) I disconnected this brown connector and it was quite brittle and the lock tab snapped off so I had to secure it in place with a plastic tie.

So my question is, is it possible to buy these connectors new as it seems they are part of the loom, if so could someone tell me from where.

Cheers

Just on the subject of buying a new connector, in my experience, all the connectors used by VAG have their part numbers moulded onto them. Try using a magnifying glass, and order one in from your local VAG dealer (any marque). Now, if you do this, my tip for getting the pins out of the original easily is to carefully crush the original connector - its body will crack open and you can get the pins out, the new connector might have a secondary locking device which is a "U clip" which needs sliding across, the primary locking device is a "lip" moulded into the connector which locks the pins in due to them having a locking tang on them.

Personally I would just cut the connector out and join the wires directly to each other.

Thanks for the replies, I am thinking like this as well its easier just to cut the old connectors out. I am thinking of joining the wires with connectors like these.

I am based in Germany so its a German link but you will get the idea. Do you think these will do the job?

Cheers
