How many Sport petrol models did they make?

Featured Replies

After looking about on eBay, they seem quite rare, only 3 on at the minute and only 1 the same as mine with the red seatbelts, red standard mats, the chrome button on the handbrake, chrome door handles, proper fitted electric windows and the wierd sports model gearstick... etc, etc... the other sport ones look very basic.

Since they only made 1000 of the SE blue ones, has anyone got a figure for the sports petrol version?

When I got the combi it wasn't a "sport model par se "- the deal in Eire was you upgraded to the sport package - alloys, leather wheel gear gaiter and the recaro type seats - no red belts over here. I wasn't bothered about alloys and what have you, it was the comfort of the seats I wanted as my commute is 140 mile a day, in fact the wife insisted I paid the extra to upgrade for that very reason!!!!

ah i see, not sure if its the same here or not though, out of the 3 on ebay, 2 look like an upgrade with the electric window switches being under the radio rather than on the door the other one looks like it same out the factory like that!

will be a shame if i cant get a figure for it :\

This is the one i think is factory, has the standard window tints and all the other extras i mentiond earlier.

This one on the other hand looks very basic

ive noticed however that all the 1.4s look basic and the 1.2s appear to have the red seatbelts and all that jazz

Mother in law has a 1.2 petrol on a 55 plate. Red belts etc. Lovely little car

Interesting... I've never seen any Fabia with the window switches in the centre like that. Doesn't look OEM. Possibly retrofitted?

Actually...I've just found another one on Autotrader with the same...

That's what I'm thinking.

The original 1.4 sport had manual windows and no CDl, these were both retro fitted at the dealer (sometimes) you can tell the the window switches being in the centre not on the doors and the blanking cap over where the winder handles were.

Nice wheels though, obviously much saught after seats, red seat belts on some if not all of them and the fake tail pipe are some other features. Also the 1.4 was the 75bhp engine, drum brakes at rear.

So it would appear some of them are actually original sport models, when i do a reg check on mine it comes listed as a sports model so... someone must have a figure somewhere! if only of the 1.2 ones.

Not that i know what CDI is anyway

But from that picture from the retrofitted one, apart from the seats and steering wheel....its exacly the same as my 2000 classic sdi the handbrake and gearknob etc look the same!

so at the highest point, they had 891 Fabia sports made! doesnt that make them rarer than the SE VRS? :x

Nope... Most SE was 887 in 2008 :p

ahhh shame :p

Brilliant though, thanks for that website and for giving me the answer i was looking for :)

Well, I'm a bit surprised at how low that figure is. Over here you see quite a few with the band alloys that were part of the sport package and I would have thought that if they have the wheels they have the full upgrade, as you would have only been paying out a few more glass beads on top of the extra you would have laid out for the alloys. Certainly, any that I have looked at (as opposed to driven past) have had the seats, gaiter and wheel as well. Mind, you also see plenty of the saloon model here that I understand are a bit of a rarity back in old blighty. Just goes to show how the markets differ I suppose.

as far as i can remember, the 1.4 sport wasnt around for very long. i had a 1.2 sport brand new in 2006, was an alright little car, nice handling and was well kitted. that had a cd multichanger, the nice seats, red seat belts, black tints on the back and electric windows. often wonder what happened to SA56VXG?

  • Author

Yeah, thats like my one, but mine has the sports handbrake and gearknob, those ones look like the comfort ones or silverline etc...

my one also has the multichanged fitted from the factory under the passenger seat.

Yeah that one had the leather handbrake from a vRS and te CD Changer under the seat. I paid for that gear stick as I didn't like the one it came with

ah i see, i dont like the one thats in either really, just somthing i look for when checking if its a genuine "sport" or just has the wheels and seats etc.. im still not insured on mine so i dont know what its like as such, got it in the garage for another few weeks untill i can swap my insurance over.

They still seem quite rare anyway. What optional extras could you choose from back in 2006 if you can remember?

Options on them? Erm I can't really remember there being that many of them to be honest, I think there was cruise control, parking sensors and maybe heated seats but there wasn't many.

If you are looking for 'rare' fabias, get a non-se '07 plate vRS - 22 according to Skoda UK.

Or the rarest of the rare, an '09 plated Mk1 vRS - I've only ever seen one (BossFox :))

  • 4 years later...

Bit late to the conversation but Holy thread revival and all that... I recently went and bought a mk1 sport. Haven't seen another like it. Not just locally I mean in same spec and colour. But ohh those sport seats... so comfortable.

  • Author

Thread revival indeed, shows how long I've been on the forum!

I've had 2 sports now, silver & black.

Silver one I added loads of extras but In the spirit of modifying lost a lot of its "sport" changed all the bumpers to VRS and put a VRS exhaust on so lost the little chrome tip the sport has.

Better than the sport seats are the red seat belts if your lucky enough to have those as well!

Or more ooober rare... yellow seat belts!
