  • Pah! I've put the FL badges on the back of my pre-FL and did the FL rear light clusters too! Cost was £15 for each badge I did the Scout too and they come on special backing so are dead easy to li

I took all my badges off so that solved that problem

  • 11 months later...

Thread revival time- no point starting a new one.

I'm torn between the pre-FL and FL "Octavia" badge.

I'm not overly keen on the pre-FL one on my car. Which is like this:

$(KGrHqZ,!ooFBsd(QfqwBQse(KDOJQ~~60_35.JPG

And I prefer the new one:

$(KGrHqRHJCoE9rehwC7sBPlVc7z0yw~~60_35.JPG

But just not sure how it will look on my car... hmmm... what should I do?!

Also whats the best/safest/neatest way to remove the old badges.

Just find an octy same colour with the lettering on it to see if you like it. Then to change they should be pretty easy I would prob go down the air drier and some fishing line route, polish up the area after and apply new one. Have you thought about delettering the back totally and just leaving Skoda badge?

If you do the new badges, do the rear lights too*!

Although the problem with the non-vRS Octavia's is that from the back the pre-FL has a different rear bumper to the FL (the pre-FL gets the black rubbing strip) so it won't look like a FL (if that's your aim - it was mine, see post #9).

*the pre-FL rear lights have the red reflectors built in, the FL rear light clusters don't - because they are integrated into the bumper, so upgrading the rear lights will leave you without any rear reflectors.

I removed my badges with some tooth floss and the wifes hair dryer! There will be some glue/ahesive left over so you'll need some T-Cut etc.

The new badges are dead easy to apply as they come with a guide!

Yes I think that's why I'm struggling to picture it with the new badges as ours has the bumper with the rubbing strip and no reflectors.

I might just go for it.

Seen one going cheap on ebay.

May even see how it looks leaving the long TDI badge underneath.

Thanks for the tips RE getting the badges off.

I had also considered the new style skoda badges but the more I look at them the less I like them! lol

Phil

I changed mine because the new badges look more modern and the older Octavia badge looked outdated to me. Quite happy with how its looks even if the car is 8 years old.

:o Get out! :p

The more you look at your old ones the more you wont like them when they de-laminate and you replace them a few times. My original one came off car after 6 weeks and 1500 miles when I got new grill surround and couldn't be bothered getting old badge off so just ordered another of those too. Old badge when I looked at it a few months back was de-laminating too! The fecking thing has been indoors for over 18 months for crying out loud!

new ones FTW!

Thanks for the picture.

Like how you have kept the TDI badge on too.

Ordered the new badge.

What rear badge is that and does it fit 100% ?

That is the flat CitiGo one. It sits within the rim of the recess not fully in it like the scabby green one did, so its not like its flat on top of the back of boot lid. I am happy with the fit, has survived power washer many times and the nasty winter months.

Actually the more I look at the new "citigo" badges the more I like them. Might get them now the Octavia badge is on:

P.s. I need to get myself some silvatech indicator bulbs too!

So is there a badge are there badges available to fit the front and rear 100% perfect?

Yes they are from the Citigo.

Just ask your dealer for Citigo badges.

The front is a domed one and the rear is flat.

Search on here in the Octavia section for Citigo Badges.

Phil

Sorry if this is a daft question but am i right in thinking the pre fl octavia 2 (i.e mine) has a small vrs badge under the main octavia one with noughing on the left side?

Where as the fl has a octavia bage on the right side and a larger vrs on the left side?

Correct.

Correct.

It depends on your own perception of them hence pictures above, if they look 100% to you then they are. :p Look spot on to me.

CitiGo front (domed) badge on FL Octy VRS (with grill surround as it should be painted)
