Turbo Spool down ?

Featured Replies

I recall when turbo's first started appearing on road cars it was recommended to let he car idle for a couple of minutes before switching off, to continue to feed oil to the turbo until it had spun down.

I am presuming technology has moved on and manufacturers have found ways round this, or is it still good practice ?

I still allow a minute or two for turbo to slow down. Even on my diesel.

Same here I stop car then have a look around inside to make sure its clean get my phone wallet etc turn air con off get tune I want to hear next time i start car ready then kill camera and if needed remove memory card. I leave it as long as I can be bothered normally 70-90 sec for me I think but last 1km is its more or less idling in gear also. I don't even turn it off until I am out of car and remove key just before I close door.

turn air con off

Is there a reason for this? I have never turned off my aircon since buying the car :wonder:

I turn off my Climate too before I turn the engine off - just force of habit.

I also ensure all other electrical load is off too (radio, lights, wipers etc.) to preserve the battery.

As below but it also gives me something to do while I let her simmer off before I get the Columbus installed
