I dont have the EML light in my octavia 2003 L&K , EML doesnt exist in these types or can be disabled?

Think we've established that diesels don't use a normal EML light. The glow plug light is used for it instead

and does everyone seem to think that everyone selling car without an apparent EML has removed it from the dash PCB?!

If the car was that much of a lemon that the warning lights needed to be removed, then I would suggest a test drive and general visual inspection would reveal a lot of the issues.

No way , i have the glow plug light but no EML, but every other octavia iv seen have it , (diesels) , i was asking if this Laurin&Klement limited version have it

I think semi gibberish of the paper manual for the car doesn't help, it isn't clear that the eml light is only for the petrol engines.

Also it doesn't explain the vagueness of the glow plug light as far as faults are concerned.

Only Mk1 diesel dash inserts that have warning lights inside the dials MAY have a separate EML light (e.g Octavia Tour). If all the warning lights are in a central block, then the glowplug light is also the EML.

if i look carefully in the dash with a good light i can see the EML light under ASR light but it never comes on :/

There may well be the cut outs for other lights for things not fitted to the car, Skoda is going to try and use the same pieces of kit for different spec cars as far as possible.

No it can't, but a bit of insulation tape on the reverse side of the graphic can stop you from seeing it. saw it the other day on a Fabia ABS and Airbag lights. 10 minutes to fix the problems, 20 minutes removing the tape.

You have no EML (K132).

K29 - Glow period warning lamp is only active for engine codes AQM, AGR, ALH, ATD, AHF, ASV, ASZ

K132 - Electronic power control fault lamp is only active for engine codes BCA, BFQ, AUM, ARX, AUQ, AZJ

You can't have both. The warning can NOT be disabled by diagnostics.

Only the front left pad has a wear strip. It's common to find the connector shorted out when the owner doesn't fit a pad with a wear strip. The warning can also be disabled by diagnostics.

A bulb failure control unit may or may not be fitted. The only way to check would be to look at the relay plate and see what's in position 1/2.

This EML has become a real issue now that it is an MOT requirement that it works. My Skoda [Fabia diesel, 2003] failed on this point. And no amount of me telling the mechanic that my car used the glow-plug lamp for EML would convince him. I need concrete confirmation - even the Skoda dealers are saying it should have an EML. 😡

As your car is pre 2008 it is not required to test the EML https://www.mot-testing.service.gov.uk/documents/manuals/class3457/Section-8-Nuisance.html#section_8.4

"You need to inspect MIL fitted to diesel vehicles with 4 or more wheels and first used on or after 1 July 2008."

Just to add to the confusion of this, my UK spec ASZ absolutely has an engine management light and is used for engine related problems. I can get it to turn on by taking the intercooler off if you need a picture.

It should have one. But it shouldn't be tested.

Sorry to use this old discussion but i have a similar question. I have a 2000 Octavia 1U5 MK1 with the AKL petrol engine. Ive never seen an EML light on my dash light up even when there were some codes in the engine. Out of curiosity i took the dash off to check if the bulb was burned or something like that and saw that there isn't a bulb in that slot, and there were no scratch marks indicating that one was never installed. I put a bulb in that slot to see if it will light up when i swith the key on but it never came on. Was that an option for those cars or what, does anybody knows anything about that

I can't imagine it leaving the factory without a bulb or soldered led. Does it look like its been messed around with?

It was really strange to me as well, no it doesn't look like anyone touched it at all and the slot for the bulb looked like brand new never had a bulb in it
