Amundsen 310 V4 GB Map

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if the new V4 GB map for my Amundsen 310 has motorway lane navigation on it.

I do have a TomTom with the latest GB map and it has Advanced Lane Guidance (ALG) so I could use that.

If anyone is unsure what I mean, when you have multiple motorway lanes, the screen shows which one to be in by means of an arrow.

In Norfolk we don't have motorways so I can't try it out, but planning a trip down south.

As no one has answered my question, perhaps someone with a version 3 (2010/2011) map might be able to help

There does seem to be little info on the capabilities, come June I'll be able to answer your question.

I've just answered my own question. Yesterday I set up my TomTom and my Amundsen to navigate the same journey.

TomTom using the latest 885 version map, Amundsen using the latest FX version 4 map

TomTom: Post code input _ speaks road names - gives warning of junctions and direction changes earlier - more precise instructions - shows which lane to be in for junctions.

Amundsen: Bigger screen thus bigger road names - missread a double junction as an S bend.

Both: Uses same Tele Atlas mapping - same destination times - same miles to go.

Conclusion: Use a TomTom for navigation, its far superior, use the Amundsen as a media device.

Thanks for confirming I'm better off with my Tom Tom (Go 1005) than the Amundsen. The Tom Tom is hard wired into my Yeti, fixed to a proclip mount on the A pillar - so at my fingertips with hands on the wheel.

Norfolk - truly God's county. He may live in Yorkshire - where there is much work to be done with sinners to smite - but he takes his holidays in the land of the wherry.

Norfolk and Good thats you Steve I wipe my bowls on a Woodfordes Wherry bar towel

Many times to North Elmham and hoping to return to fish the Wensum.

Tescos Brighouse yesterday early am Bob or a Betty look alike?

I was on foot heading back home on superb early morning Gods first County canal, wildlife and river walk having been dropped off by miss bossy boots who works in Brighouse.

It's Bootiful, just Bootiful. I live next the the river Yare and the Broads, and I like Wherry bitter, life is soo good

Hmm, as a Garmin user I'm more than happy.

And I've just booked 10 days holiday in Coltishall!

Hi Peter, not me at Brighouse ... but on another note - that Yorkshire Mafia logo; I saw a big version of that where the M606 joins the M62 heading towards Leeds yesterday. What's going on? By the way, I used to play cricket for North Elmham - small world!

Tech-Yeti, I'm a Norfolk boy temporarilly living in exile among the savage northern hordes - but my preferred Woodfordes brew is Nelson's Revenge. I used to live in Erpingham - the original home of the Woodfordes brewery before they grew and relocated to Woodbastwick. I'm more a Bure than a Yare man too - that's where I do most of my sailing. I'm down that way in two weeks, staying at Langham near Blakeney.

"Holiday" Graham? You mean they've caught up with you at last! Last I heard, was that RAF Coltishall was being converted into a prison!

Damn!! You've realised!!

What I haven't told SWMBO is that there is a nice narrow gauge railway very close by!! :drunk:

Runs from Aylsham to Wroxham - I've ridden on it a number of times. The 'Black Boys' pub in Aylsham is a pretty good place for lunch - in the market place, about a 10 minute stroll or so from the Aylsham station. While you're in the area a visit to the Museum of the Broads is worthwhile - as is a ride on the solar powered boat 'Ra' around Barton Broad - and a climb to the top of Ranworth church tower for stunning views of broadland. Of course you mustn't miss out on the 'brewery tap', the Fur and Feather at Woodbastwick. Plenty more suggestions where these come from.

Bob, nearer the time I'll remind you.

The food and drink part of the holiday is VERY important.

It's Bootiful, just Bootiful.

Bernard, or at least his pilot, could easily ruin my day. Never have I come across a more miserable whinging git., and Horsham St. Faith also had the most miserable Customs Officers in the UK. Must be something to do with having to deal with the six-fingered all day long. :@
