lower wishbone bush - not the rear one

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a very definate problem with a bush on the lower wishbone (nearside) to by 140 TDI 2006 Octavia. It's not the more common rear bush, but the one where the wishbone pivots on the subframe. The one in-line with the drive shaft.

I'me getting a bit of conflicting advice as one garage has said he can change the bush, while another said I need a new arm asembly.

A very quick search suggests that the arm isn't that expensive anyway, but wondered whether anyone can tell me if that bush (the one sitting under the the suspession leg) can be replaced or a new arm needed?

A guide price for the job would be a bonus.

Thanks,

From experience bushes tend to be a pain to remove.... Sometimes requiring burning!

the bush can be pressed out or drilled out

i replaced mine with super pro ones which come in two halfs so you don't need any special tools to fit

Thanks for this update as it looks as if the job is one of replacing the bush, not the whole arm.

I had guesed that it getting an old bush out might not go smoothly, so willl book it in the the gargae who as a good starting point knew the job was one of replacing the bush, not the arm.

here's a step by step guide for a golf mk5 which is similar set up to an octavia but the hardest part is getting the bush out which takes a lot of hammering if you haven't got a press.
