How do I remove this turbo pipe thing?

Featured Replies

Evnin all, hope you are all enjoying the better weather?

How do you remove the rubber 'S' Bend 'pancake' pipe from the metal turbo pipe.

One end (the pancake side) has a jubilee clip so no worries there but the other end has a mad metal linkage which I have never seen before and seems to be very loose and is obviously the cause of my recent problems. as some of you may know I have had trouble with loud turbo whistle, air leak noise and very poor MPG so suspected a leak in the vac pipes somewhere. As advised by 'Modra_VRS', with the good weather I managed to finally strip the o/s wheel arch out and check the pipes connecting to the pancake pipe. this linkage was covered in fresh oil mist and as said is very loose and cant be air tight.

Can I buy this pipe on its own or is it part of the metal turbo pipe? and wheres best to get it from as I suspect Skoda will be dear.

Cheers Phil

Screwdriver on opposite side of pic under metal clip and it will 'pop' out of place

Pipe is available individually but expect a hefty price tag via skoda, maybe eurocarparts will be able to get one for you

Cheers Big Jase. But, is that it? thought it would need to be something a little more sturdy to keep it air tight for the boost. Mines as loose as a whores nicker elastic! but just didn't want to stick screwdrivers and things in something I didn't understand. In my pic there is a wee locating bit that looks flat head screw driver shape is that where I need to pop it or as you said is this hidden out of sight? If so I take it that this is a non salvageable clip in that I would need a new one once it has came off?

Yup all that holds it together is the clip...

All you do is insert a flat blade screwdriver under the clip in its centre (left of where you took pic) and prize it outwards...

Metal clip is part of the metal pipe to the turbo and stays with it. Once you've popped the clip the rubber pipe will pull out.... There are metal lugs on the end of the rubber pipe which will be worn causing boost to leak (will eventually fail)

Yeah buy new!

Previous experience vag like to charge between £30/£100 :o rip off!

Maybe eurocarparts or somewhere will be reasonable!

That metal clip if you look at it there will be a raised part which is where your screwdrive goes, you cant miss it! :)
