Furby II VRS black chrome wheel polish

Featured Replies

As above really... I've got the black/chrome 17" wheel option - has anyone else noticed that they're starting to lose their shine a bit? Mine seem to have quite a few swirl marks and light scratches on the black/polished bits. I regularly clean them with Megs Wheel Brightner. The only thing I can think of is it could be down to a cheapo brush I used to use (thrown it away now) that may have worn out and had some exposed metal...

Does anyone have any suggestions on removing the light scratches and getting the wheels back up to original standard? Perhaps something like AG Super Resin for the glossy black bits of the wheels, or is there a recommended wheel polish?

Many thanks :)

Ideally you want to use Megs next gen metal polish to bring them back to life then use PB's wheel sealant every 3 months and clean them with Wolfs brake duster. Doesn't require you to touch the wheel and that way they should stay scratch free-ish and the sealant will last longer.

Shouldn't need to use anything like Wolfs if the wheels are sealed?

I used to use Jetseal 109 on my wheels and they regularly came clean with normal shampoo, didn't need a dedicated wheel cleaner very often.

Are the wheels painted? If so do not use a metal polish. To remove the swirls you will have to use an abrasive polish such as the menzerna's range, scholl concepts etc etc. Doing this will be a massive task, not impossible, but I wouldn't try it myself, my shadow chrome zeniths are the same, can live with swirly wheels.

Don't use Meg's wheel Brightener every time mate, it is an acidic wheel cleaner that will strip any protection on them and will eat into any damage on them too.

Seal them with whichever product you fancy then clean with a non acidic wheel cleaner or just shampoo. When they get really grubby and the shampoo/non-acidic wheel cleaner isn't upto the task, use the wheel brightener.

The dirt will still stick to the wheel, the sealant makes it easier to clean off. It's like cars that are sealed and have wax. Still get dirty, just makes it easier to clean them next time.

what is good about wolfs is that you could leave it on all day and it wouldn't ruin the wheel or even your paint and if you leave it long enough you won't have to touch the wheel to clean it.

To give you an idea of what acidic based cleaners can do to unprotected paint....

Yep, I'd just seal them up and then just use a shampoo solution to clean them. Doesn't need much work to shift any grime that way and most of it comes off with the initial pass of the pressure washer on them.

I echo the advice on Wheel Brightener too. It's far too aggressive to be using that often. I've only ever used it to get a really bad set of wheels clean again. It's a last resort sort of product for me.

Never use any strong chemicals on these.

I just use some Zip Wax in a bucket with a microfibre cloth, rinse and dry. Finish with a dry microfibre cloth.

Yep. Not really familiar with the Fab Mk2 vRS wheel but if there's unpainted metal there I wouldn't use anything acidic or aggressive on them, ever. You risk permanently damaging the wheel surface.

There's enough examples available of people using Wonder Wheels and equivalent on BBS split rims and the like - and the results aren't pretty!

Thanks for the very helpful replies, gents :) plenty for me to be thinking about.

Didn't quite realise how dangerous Megs WB could be - like I say it has been OK so far but I will reserve it's use for much, much rarer times :)

So my shopping list then is for Wolfs Chemical Brake Duster. That stuff really looks awesome. I'll also get some PoorBoys Wheel Sealant.

Once again thanks all :)

I wish I had now, I placed an order on CYC and paid for Saturday delivery, but it didn't even get despatched. Usually had great service from CYC up until now, so a bit peeved because I won't get it today and wasted the money on delivery.

Don't think I'll bother with them anymore :(

I tend to use CYC, Elite and PB - just depends what I need. Have always had good service from them all.

Worth letting CYC know you're not happy - if they don't know they can't do anything about it :)

Woops! I only just remembered it was obviously Easter weekend/Good Friday. What a moron I am!

Ah. You can't get too mad then :)
