Featured Replies

Hi guy quick query, I was driving down motorway on Saturday afternoon sitting at about 60 n I throttled up to pass some cars when I lost all turbo boost ( it was roasting hot up here on Saturday) I thought the worse but managed to limp home on limited revs , now on Sunday morn I fired the car up and heard turbo spooling up so I took it for a wee spin and it was boosting fine ,has anyone else had this prob b4

Nobody got idea

This happens quite alot to people, happens cause boost is highest in higher gears, 5th and 6th which I imagine you would have been in on the motorway, you have a slight leak somewhere along your pipes, may not be noticeable (mine wasn't) until higher gears when boost is greatest and there is a slight deviation between requested and actual boost so the car goes into limp mode to stop it over boosting and blowing the turbo. Get all the pipes checked, get some cable ties on so they don't budge at all and spray some hairspray on the joining surfaces before putting back together, it drys sticky and provides a good seal. Then you'll have no probs :) make sure you rub a wee bit of oil on the rubber seals before pushing them back in so not to damage them.. I fitted my fmic on Friday and the car is alot quieter as a result of all the new piping and better joins, the Oem piping isn't great I must have had a leak somewhere for sure. 90 degree bend going into the intercooler seems to be the most problematic one
