panels on a roomster,

Featured Replies

can anyone confirm if the wings, bonnet and bumper on as roomster are the same part numbers / parts as those on the fabia? as that would give me a lot more options in scrapyards

reason is with my car written off i am looking at whether i can (assuming i can find one in right colour) get the relevant panel from the scrap yard to save having to spray new panels

just looking at the economics of buying the car back and repairing it myself, all of which depends on what they want for my car and the price i can get the panels and other parts for

anyone know the cheapest place to get parts like projector headlights, radiator etc, and more importantly anywhere to avoid (pm me if do not wish to put places to avoid on open forum)

I am not sure but I think that they are the same. Also this site is claiming the same. I think front doors are different and I am not sure about driver's and passenger's mirror.

You can also find a vast number of headlights and other parts at ebay.

Hope you 'll have it sorted out as soon as possible.

I've repaired 2 in the last 6 months, first was a Roomster, then a 59 plate Fabia.

Being realistic your not going to find the parts you need in the right colour, even if the miracle happens, odds are they will be scratched and need painting again.

Up until the A-post, a Fabia2 and Roomster are identical. Suspension and radiators are 9N VW Polo compatible aswell.

I was shocked just how cheap the Skoda dealers were. From memory a genuine front wing was less than 60 pounds plus the VAT.

If the front chassis legs are bent it will need to go on a jig, this can be expensive. Normally if its been hit this hard then the airbags will have gone. I found these to be very expensive.

If the car was easy to repair, chances are the insurance company would have repaired the car for you, so inspect the car carefully before you think about a repair.

A quick check in the parts program shows that bonnet, bumper and wings are the same as the Fabia

i will apparently be getting a call from the insurance company engineer later this week

there was no damage further back than the radiator, i could not see down behind the bumper, but it seems due to the heavy braking the damage is all above the main bumper bar

the bonnet opened so was able to check insode the engine bay

no apparent damage to the inner wings other than where the slam panel joins the inner wing just the top was pulled in very slightly

no air bag deployment, accident was less than 10mph, did not even break any lights on the 61 reg renault i used to stop

main damage was bonnet, bumper, slam panel, ns headlight, radiator and aircon condensor radiator

other possible parts, radiator fan, various small plastics

looking online those main parts are about £500, and probably another couple of hundred for all the other little bits, bolts etc

only other thing i am having trouble finding is the paint

i am confused as to why the repair centre is saying over £3500 to repair it, as the engine was still running after impact and i got it off the road but it had a minor coolant leak (steady drip not complete loss of coolant), under tray still in place with no signs of movement

It is all because of their way to gain profit, to over cost spare parts. Last January I had my rear bumper hit by a Focus at about 30Km/h. Bumper was cracked from almost side to side but was still in place since no panel was disformed. So it had to be replaced, when the bodyshop repairer removed rear bumper we found out that transverse bar was disformed too. The cost came up to 670 euros. Please note that the plastic holders of the bumper were intackt. Price list as below.

Bumper : 330 eur.

Rear transverse bar : 125 eur.

Paint work : 150 eur.

Bodyshop labor : 60 eur.

Job was done to dealers because the car is still in warranty till June. Looking at spare part e-shops, prices are almost half price or even below. For example rear transverse bar found at 60eur as brand new, and a rear bumber from scrap yard found at 120 eur, or ~220 eur as brand new. Paint job and fitting are at the same prices.
