Finally got round to ordering myself a new TB gasket so I can clean the TB properly, hoping it will sort out my dodgy cold starting and idling.

Now I read a few threads on here that suggest you can reset the TB by disconnecting the battery - is that true or do you need VAG-Com to do it? If it is true then how long do you disconnect the battery for?

I used to have to do TB resets with my Liquid Gauge when I had my Octavia but I sold that with the Octavia. And there don't appear to be many people near me with a full version of VAG-Com. :(

yes just disconnect the battery for a few mins, touch the leads together to draw the residual current down(with then disconnected from the battery!!)

So it only has to be for a few minutes?

Yes but it will only work if there is no fault codes stored in memory I believe.

I had it scanned for codes a couple of months ago and there weren't any, just bought an OBDII scanner too so will run a scan and clear any (if there are any) before the reset. If only these scanners could do a TB reset as well I'd be a happy bunny.

The felicia is not obd2 compliant, you need something that can do kwp1280 (iso)

Thought it was OBDII? We've fault code scanned it on VAG-Com before?

I've bought a cheapy VAG-Com cable to scan and clear the codes so presumably that'll work on the Fely with VCDS-Lite (although won't do a TB reset which is why I'm doing it the battery way)

ahh yes vag com works but generic OBD11 readers don't due to the car talking a different language

You can do a throttle body reset with vcds lite.. I've got that on my laptop and it does everything that the full version can do on a felicia. Basic cars with only a few modules on there, none of this fancy pantsy can bus rubbish..

I forget now, it's either channel 0 or channel 1 in basic settings in the engine01 section.

you can also do measuring blocks, adaption, output tests etc with vcds lite.

Really? On the Octy it would only measure something like the first 9 blocks, you had to have the full version to be able to log on the higher blocks. I'll give it a go resetting the TB with VCDS lite then
