Dodgy fuel gauge

Featured Replies

HI all,

After a few issues with my girlfriends 1.4mpi we now have a new one which involves the fuekl gauge staying at maximum. When you turn the ignition off the gauge goes to zero so i'm guessing it's a sensor problem? has anyone had this issue and if so whats the cost etc?

Cheers

May well be that the lead for the sender unit has dropped off and earthed itself.

Where is this located mate? and is it something i could easily do myself? thanks for the reply!

Daft question but you haven't done a Ventectomy or filled up while pushing the little black button in the side of the filler neck have you? If so then it'll stay nailed to full for 150+ miles till you run the tank down to the 'normal' part of the tank.

It does register as "full" when tanked up to the max for a long teme. You will find the last 1/4 goes down quite quick. ;) Nothing you can really do about it. One of those fabia foibles.

Ok so latest to happen is that the fuel gauge never goes down, at most it goes down to 3/4 and filling up is another nightmare as it always clicks off at the pump so takes an age to fill as i have to trickle the fuel in.........anyone else had this ??? bah!
