  • for everyone tapping into this and that for power, why dont you all just wire it from under the steering wheel. Theres a row of 5 nuts in a block that splits the cars power to CCU and relays ect.

  • I got one of these, didn't fit straight away had to file some of it to make it fit.

  • here you go. PS not my car anymore!

LOL Lloyd how long have you been on here

Loads of pics from past threads

I would try a search for "Newsouth" to see pics of the column pod, have a look at RobClubley, SteevieWonder or Des's cars for pics of dash mounted gauges, Bowders1 and GeeMan have both got A-pillar pods, I had a LiquidGauge, DBP has just fitted a boost gauge in his ashtray.

I do remember seeing a couple of Octys with the vent mount fitted a few years ago but when it's mentioned people always moan about it because it means losing the drivers side air vent

Yeah seen the pillar ones folk have made :)

But i dont get on with diy car bits lol

My patiences are not the best when things go wrong :D

The air vent not working would be anoying i think :(

Plus i have them open and that would not match "grrrr"

I looked at that steering column one but i remember trying it and it rubbed while turning the wheel and ****ed me off so it got sent back

I wish someone would do a nice pillar mount off the shelf like the mk4 golfs

Lee- thats rather neat :D i always thought a nos button would be cool in there lol and the switch for the nos pop up in the can holder thing hehe

Thats similar to what Robs got on his

Ordered one of those earlier in the week Pete but I don't think it will work on the Felicia (uses a different protocal to the Octavia) so might have to sell it :(

Are gauges easy to wire up ?

I know volts is a easy one

Where do the oil temp, oil pressure and boost plug in?

Anyone got pics?

  • Author

Oh.... And how does that empty pocket thingy come out?

Well the boost is just a live and earth to make lights work and pressure pipe to the t piece near front if engine I'll try get pic!! I have air fuel ratio and that's wired just under skuttle panel where wiring loom for lamba sensors are, think oil pressure goes under intake manifold there's a switch u tap into but it can be found on search :)

Would you not be better with a switched live from the headlight switch so the boost guage only lights at night??

I put the oil temp sensor in the oil pump flange. There is a blanking plug which can be removed and replaced with a VDO sensor. The plug is item no 10 below.

Haven't done the oil pressure sensor yet but was thinking about removing the standard sensor (item no 16 above) and replacing with a dual pole VDO sensor. Not sure if that would work though.

Lloyd,

I would suggest that the triple din holder takes gauges like; oil pressure, oil temperature and volts (just like what Simon and I have done). Boost needs (idealy) to be close to the eye line. The twin steering cowl holder I have is ideal for that-it doesn't obstruct the dashboard either. You can also get a single pod. Take a look on awesome's website!

Steve

I took my gauge feed off the glove box light so they only come on when the headlights are switched on.
