Firefox eating RAM

Featured Replies

Just noticed this tonight. I've currently got three tabs running (all text-based of which Briskoda is one, and nothing else flashy on the other two)

It's currently consuming 111mb! My system's powerful enough to handle this, but I'm just wondering how other Firefox users fair? I run my PC 24/7 and it's been up for nearly three days which I'm suspecting might have something to do with it. 'Fox runs all the time and I think it's being less than efficient with RAM usage, as I open and close tabs...

Might be a memory leak..... have you updated it?

Yeah, it's running at v1.0.2.

Just checked now, with 6 tabs open, 66mb! That's with two of the original three tabs open, when I posted the first time.

Very odd...

53mb with 4 tabs open...

There again, a single IE windows reports as using 25mb.....

You wonder what it does with it all :D

Just have to accept it as 'normal' I think. In a similar test to yours, Briskoda front page on Opera 7 was using 29mb...

Mines run to over 400mb at some points...I rarely restart so I collect windows and tabs quite a lot.

Didn't know of a leak par se but will update at some point. Cheers.
