Decision time... Keep the Bora or get a Vrs?

Featured Replies

Firstly, Hello to everyone on Briskoda... :D

Been a lurker on here for a while and this is my first post and probably quite a silly question on a passionate Skoda forum, but....

I have a 2002 Bora Sport PD130 with, imo at least, some quite nice mods and have come to a crossroads in my ownership and would appreciate your opinions please guys... :)

Had the Bora for 2 and a half years now and whilst it has been a cracking car and has no particular faults or vices that necessitate getting rid, i've just grown a little bored of it now and would like a new toy to polish on a sunday morning....

The new motor would have to have a tractor engine as the missus does 60 miles a day to work and back, i've gone through my wish list (MK5 GT TDI, Audi A3, old shape A4 130 Sport and Skoda Fabia Vrs)

Out of them all, it's the Fabia that is currently in the lead by a mile... Can't really justify the cost of the MK5/A3 as i want to have some cash for doing me house up and we are currently trying for kids so will probably need every penny! lol

The A4 was just not an exciting drive tbh and left me a little dissapointed, the Vrs however, was Bl##dy Belting...!

Took one out for an unaccompanied 2 hour test drive today and was extremely impressed by both the car and dealer attitude, the Vrs imo looks so much nicer than the Bora and more importantly was much more fun to drive, so.....?

Do i take the plunge and go for a Fabia Vrs or keep the Bora and try and recapture my enthusiasm for it by investing in more mods?

Btw, taking a Lemon Yellow Vrs out for another 2 hour test drive in the morning! da da da da da, i'm lovin it! :D:D

Keep the Bora and take a trip to Jabba ;)

What you doing here? :P

I say go for it, fantactic cars for the money.

Would have to agree, the money you'd lose by swapping the car may be better spent on some choice mods. I get bored of cars pretty quick, but am still happy with mine, and future mods will keep me interested for a while yet.

Hiya Eddy, Thought it was time to check out the sensibly priced arm of the VAG empire...! ;)

Just fancying a change and really like the looks and drive of the Furby, Emma has absolutely fallen in love with them after driving a brand new Black one today, she was only behind the wheel about 30 seconds and asked could we buy it!! :D

Seems a really fun car which is what is attracts us to one at the moment, the Bora's great but, dare i say a little boring! just don't tell anyone on Mkivs that i said that...lol ;)

Welcome to the forum.

Only thing I would add is to say that you might miss the space in the Bora which will certainly be a consideration if you're planning a family.

I know Furby's are quite roomy but they're not a Bora..... Although the Furby is a hatchback and the Bora's a saloon. I'll get me coat... :)

Sounds like you've passed the point of no return and already made your mind up to me....

And the Bora is a bit pipe-and-slipper-ish...:sofahide:

Having seen a Bora from 'up close' (neighbours of inlaws have one) and owning a vRS -

1. vRS has less room - should be sufficient for baby stuffs though

2. vRS has ISO fitting for seats, which may be of benefit. No clue about Bora having that, probably does though if it's a newish one

3. vRS is probably more fun to drive, esp. remapped ;)

Thanks for the replies fella's...

As for missing the space in the Bora over a Furby, can't see it being a major problem tbh as even though it's a bigger car it's poorly packaged imo..

The boot is huge but the loading area isn't, 'borrowed' my mates 2 year old for a trip to chester zoo a while back, his 3 wheel buggy that fits easily into my mates Punto wouldn't fit in the Bora!!

The interior space doesn't seem that smaller either, the wife is 6 foot tall and with her seat right back in the Bora there is Zero rear passenger space, tried the same test in the Vrs and there's a good bit of room!

There's no isofix for the seats in my Bora, think that was an optional extra, so that would be a bonus if it comes standard in the Vrs

Here's a piccy of my current ride, got some Eibach pro dampers / -30mm Eibach springs and 15mm rear spacers waiting to go on if i don't buy a Furby Vrs... ;)

Looks like a nice motor at any rate :)

vRS comes with ISO but only on 2005 model I believe. If you're buying new then you should be set there :D

love the seats

Nice mods!!!!! all u need is to drop it down a notch or two!

Welcome to Briskoda. I have always had a soft spot for the saloon versions of the Golf. The Fabia vRS is a cracking not-so-little car - so I have heard somewhere - but is it really that much of a change from a Bora to warrant buying one? :rubchin:

thats a very nice motor....if i were you id just remap it and get a full Oettinger body kit..my mate had one and it looked the business...are those interior mod from the Golf Aniversary ?

What year/mileage etc is the Bora? M aybe someone will do a swap!
