Ambiente warning lights

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

My Ambiente has been a great car since I bought it used 2 years ago, however it came without a drivers manual and my dealer says he can't get one.

I have just one simple question at present, yesterday a warning light started flashing on the dash - it looks like an amber coloured coil of wire. It stopped after about 7 miles but i'm concerned that it may be something important, anyone know please.

That will be the heater plug light, the one you wait to go out before starting.

Need to check fault codes, possibly a brake light switch. Brake lights working?

Sounds like brake pad low warning light !!! Might be worth checking ur pads

That's an orange symbol like this ( O )

I prsume If its the "coil of wire" light you have a diesel?

I would imagine that if its taking about 7 miles for it go out you need new glow plug(s) ?

But First step is as Tech1e said, get somebody with VagCom to fault scan it ->

Should be able to find and contact a fellow Briskie near you willing to run a scan :-)

Then work from there. My moneys on glow plugs though.

If it's a diesel, it'll be the glow plug light. Potentially a...

- faulty set of plugs (£35 for new set from Camberley Auto Factors, or you can have my decent 3,000-mile spare set for £10 delivered)

- faulty plug relay

- less of a chance but maybe coolant temp sensor problems. These are usually self-aware when starting up though.

As also stated can be a blown brake light bulb.

A popped brake light bulb can trip the coil light to stay on?! Spose its a nice telltale, if you know about it...

Mine just tells me if there's a brakelight out. :D

Thanks Guys,

looks like it is the glow plug warning light, just wonder why it flashed for about 7 miles after running perfectly for 10 miles and is now OK again. Perhaps as someone said it was the relay stuck?

Seems to start OK even when cold!

Thanks all for your time.

Electrical Gremlin stopped off on his way home for Easter id say... If its all good now, ignore it, and just see what happens, worst case it comes on again, and then you know something is starting to fail, either a relay, or glow plug.

Yes the brake light circuit is monitored by the engine ecu for things like idle stabilisation, injection timing etc. a fault on that circuit is shown by the coil light as most don't have an EML.

Have you checked your brake lights yet?

yep mine did that it was the break pedal switch about £10 and 5 min fix
