Sub / Amp stopped functioning

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Had it fitted properly by a car audio place, not halfords lol, a good 8 months ago but this past week it has stopped working. Have checked the amp fuses (2 x 20amp) and they are fine. Are there any other fuses to check in the fuse panel?

It will ocassionally jump into life for a short period of time, the length of one track usually, but then stops.

Thank you for any help,

Joel

Any lights on the amp? Thermal cut out? Is there any power at the amp? Main live? Remote live? Earth?

I had this problem last week i had burnt the remote wire owt

as above any lights on the amp, any burning smells?

one of my old amps the fuse moved around due to the vibrations ended up buying a new fuse even though old one wasnt blown cured the problem

maybe bridge your live wire to the remote wire aswell see if it kicks in?

or try a different earth on the ground wire

check with a multimeter at the amp with the ignition and radio on see what you get you want a 12v live feed to live and remote wires and a good earth

A quick side note, I have no real knowledge of how to connect this sort of equipment and dont have access to testing equipment. I can however follow instructions providing it is explained in a simple step by step manner.

Think I may have found the problem.

Found this loose wire, what is it, what does it do and how do I reconnect it ? This cable is going INTO the amp, or at least it was.

As you can see power is getting to it, blue light but its just not working.

To update and conclude this thread.

Took it to some one who knew what they were talking about. On close inspection the amp had actually gone, not the sub. A new amp later and all is working.

Glad you got it sorted fella
