Brothers Felly Failed MOT

Featured Replies

So may be for sale soon as spares or repair for someone. Don't know all the details but apparently it failed on number plate (passed all the ones before and it's been the same and the steering rack is "seeping". Told him £250 to fix it so I think it's time to move it on. If he does get rid of it it ALL has to go and I'm not breaking it.

More details soon

Number plate and steering rack it failed on because it was seeping. Been advisories the last 3 years and we replaced the gaiters last time. He's a bit gutted because he put two new tyres only last week at the same garage. There's lessons he can learn from this. He hasn't long put a brand new radiator on it too.

So he's had enough now and wants something more modern. The search is already on and I'm seeing a few this week with him. I'll do a proper post but Briskoda can get first dibs on it. It's too good for scrap and even stripped there's plenty of parts for someone. I remember quite a few on here weren't happy the last time one was scrapped but if I have to I will.

a few more details please? Has the current mot actually expired now? hatchback? Petrol /diesel?

Hatchback, petrol, red, MOT expires tomorrow. Only other problem is a dent in the wing that has started rusting. Someone hit and run in the car park where he works. Is also due a service but its fsh apart from that.

As I've said It's had a new radiator, new exhaust and two new tyres all recently.

Why not fix it, its very cheap to fix all those. Buying another car to replace it could have hidden unknowns and could ultimately cost a lot more in the short term than fixing the Felicia.

You'll get around £100 scrap for the Felcia, and then you'll have the cost of buying and sorting out another car on top.

He could do but the main thing is the rack. How much could I get one for? I have a friend who can fit it. Bit annoyed by the number plate tbh. It's been the same since the day he had it. Myself I think £250 all in is a bit much

He's been pestering for a new car for a while and if he puts more money into this to get an MOT I'm still not sure if it would be worth it. Has been a good car though and this has been its only real problem

you can buy a new power steering rack off eBay for £100 delivered... Or just grab one from a breakers yard, I paid £25 for one last time I got one.. If you look at the top of the felicia section there is a thread pinned up the top call 'power steering retro fit' or something like that, and in that thread you will find enough detail to help you change your steering rack.
