205/55/16 standard fabia vrs alloys

Featured Replies

Hi, I currently run 205 / 45 / 16 on the standard vrs alloys, Its lowered 25mm on eibachs,

Im moving to france in the next few months and taking the vrs with me, Id like to up the profile of tyre due to in france they dont seem to have drop curbs, so id rather the alloys not take a beating & I will be driving along alot of country roads,

Just wondering does any one run 205/55/16s ? if so any reviews / pictures?

Thanks in advance

Richard

Don't bother. Speedo will be way out and they will rub on the NSR inner arch.

205/50/16 will fit, but they're an even more difficult size to get.

If you're on the standard brakes, better to drop to 15s and use 195/55/15

Anybody who can confirm 195/55/16 will fit on standard Fabia RS with 16" Spidel model wheels?

They are a bit bigger then the 205/50/16 mentioned above.

Theyll rub because of the profile I think

Ive 205/50/16s on mine :)

you say the speedo is miles out, i have some big ass tyres on my car 195/65/15 and the speedo is spot on according to satnav, the rubbing on the rear arch was sorted with the aid of a angle grinder and removing 5mm of the little lip, which was chemical rust treated and painted and undersealed, filling the back of the car up with gravel and concrete slabs and a fat man jumping up and down there was plenty of clearance once the plastic wheel arch liner has warn through

Sounds like an awful lot of aggro just so you could fit the wrong sized tyres!

We had a Polo that came (used) on 195/65R15 tyres, it was horrible to drive until we put the correct size tyres on. Just so sluggish. I can't believe people would want to do that on purpose.

its an SDI, im used to driving a 1954 Landrover so acceleration isn't something im used to!
Besides i'm skint and the wheels and tyres where free! (old ones where down to the bands!)

to be honest, its got no reason to have that great big chunk of plastic/metal in the wheel arch, there is nothing under neath it and the only reason I can see it is there is to prevent people from fitting larger tyres/wheels!

You're skint from the cost of putting petrol in that Landrover, I borrowed my mates 1961 to tow a car out from a remote field in another county, it would have been cheaper to get a Chinook to airlift it!

piccy, also cleaned up the rusty spots whilst i was under there

THe landy is MOT exempt, tax exempt and costs £150 to insure... ... but 12mpg!

I'd also like to add the legal bit that the insurer may not be happy with you putting on such oversized tyres.
