Octavia Scout - what a star!

Featured Replies

How many bikes on the roof?!

The Paris Roubaix is renown as one of the toughest cycle road races because of the rough roads and cobbles.

The Scout looks ideal for the job.

Yes - erm quite striking. I like the two tone effect with white below the door bump strips too. There are some pics of lairy Superbs hidden in those articles too. Les.

It's German registered where the use of winter tyres is very much encouraged.

The others all seem to be Spanish...

Well, not a racing team and nearly a Scout, but still a star! and it does the job. :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Have you not thought of some front mudflaps Yorkshire to complete the 4x4 look?

Mudflaps? Them stiff ones just compromise your ground clearance & the flappy ones look crap. I prefer to live with the mud.

It's not so much the mud (my Scout never leaves the tarmac) but the stone chips.

I still don't understand why Skoda fit the rears as standard, I'd have thought the fronts serve a more useful purpose...

This summer I hope to be fitting a full set of mud flaps all round. £8 a pair from local motor shop.

Have mocked-up cardboard templates for front and rear and just need to decide how long i want them. Am quite tempted by 'half' or 'three quarter' ones - I know they won't do as good a job, but I'm not sold on the full-length mudflap look.

Fronts should fit straight onto the torx screws; rears will use the torx screws and the handy mounting brackets that come with the flaps will neatly bridge the gap between the inner face of the wheel arch and the lip.

On another note - Les, am I right in thinking you run Yeti Spitzberg alloys with winter tyres on your Scout? That's the route I'm heading at the minute. My Dad has a Yeti and last weekend i tried his Dolomites for size on the front - the 5mm difference in ET doesn't seem to cause any rubbing, but just wondered if you could confirm no issues before I shell-out for new alloys. Any chance of a pic too?

Cheers, Paul

Howardian - yes, I had Spitzbergs on over winter with no problems at all. In fact, I think I prefer the look of the wheels over the OEM wheels. They sit 5mm further out at ET45 rather than ET50 for the Proteus wheels.

Hopefully this link will work: http://www.briskoda....ost__p__2576011

p.s. I was in Nunnington last week on the way to staying in a place near Fangdale Beck - what a gorgeous piece of countryside.

The winters I run on my Scout are ET42 so sit 8mm further out (16x6j) and I have 15mm spacers on the back and no problems what so ever, in fact I think the car looks better with the slightly wider stance (23mm at the back)

Car looks good - pity i didn't know you were in Nunnington otherwise i could have seen it in the flesh! As I work in countryside management, I'll take the last sentence as a compliment too!!

On that other thread you mention that the Spitzbergs were second hand. How the hell did you manage that - I'm trying 1st Choice for scrap Yeti alloys and can't even get any of the much commoner Dolomites. Surprised no-ones tried that - I borrowed a couple of Dolomites off my Dad's car and I reckon they look good.

Did anyone notice that the octavia scout is now only available from stock, cannot be ordered .It looks it is being replaced, or not not available. All the octavia 4x4 models are also in this position.

Yes, been a couple of threads on this recently. The 2.0 CR and 1.2 TSi engines have also been dropped from the range to clear capacity in the plant for the new Octavia MkIII.
