Autoglym protection

Featured Replies

my dealer is pushing this strongly with my package , is it worth the money . how can i tell it has been applied ?

I did mine myself - and Certain motoring chain has BOGOF just now on Autoglym

You can this kit or similar on ebay for £30 or so and a few hours labour.

My sons car has it and I do not think it is worth in comparison to polishing and waxing yourself

Not really, you would be better off getting the car detailed professionally from new.

Well I will pick up my new car on Monday/Tuesday and it will have had the AutoGlym treatment so I will see what I get but I did only pay £83.33 for it after some haggling. That is for all the paintwork, leather interior and glasswork. For that money I believe it is worth it as that obviously includes the "Lifetime Warrenty".

I feel £83.33 is still too much to pay. It involves a wash, wax and top coat. It doesn't last for life and I bet all new cars get the treatment anyway.

I bought an aftermarket lifeshine kit off eBay for approx £20 and applied myself. It makes the car look great but I feel you simply can't beat a good wax treatment every few months (autoglym high deff).

The lifeshine kit is also only as good as the person applying it. It's your car and you will probably apply it better than anybody else, if you can be bothered?

If I could turn the clock back I wouldn't have even bothered with my £20 lifeshine kit. The only product within the kit that I feel is beneficial is the fabric protector spray. It coats all the fabric with an invisible waterproof layer that stops staining from spills.

I was told you only get a lifetime warranty if you get the treatment and also buy the takehome pack. This was a total of £295 when I bought my car in 2011. You might want to check this with the dealer as it sounds like you are expecting the warranty also.

I am getting the pack as well as all the treatment for the £83.33 so I am happy with the price.

I took it from the supplying dealer after finding out what I could get it for from alternate sources and getting the dealer to match them. They always try for about £300 initially but will soon drop to a fraction of that if it looks like you will tell them to forget it. Of course I also got the bag of cleaners as well so I agree that £83.33 is a good deal and will save you a hard days work.

Sorry to hijack this thread but when applying polish with one or those waffle pads do you do it in a circler motion or in straight lines.

Also when buffing/polishing, circler motion or straight lines

Why do micro fibre cloths come in different colours, different textures?

Thanks

Someone said that if you use circular motions with you cloth then you will fill in any small scratches with the polish far better than striaght lines which will tend to leave those scratches there.

Awaits Baker's arrival...

Of course it's not worth whatever the dealer charges. I got it done because SWMBO paid for the car and wanted it to stay clean and shiny. I recall the cost was unbelievable, she could have got several "hair-dos" at Toni and Guys for less!

I firmly believe this after seeing results on other cars and the way their treatment seems to last very much longer and look better all round.

My dealer tried this and by me haggling I also got them down to £85 for the treatment plus the aftercare kit, the contents of which were worth more than that when priced-up in shops!

Whatever you do, don't pay more than this.

It is amazing what we can do when we exchange information. Isn't it? :giggle::rock::happy:

By the way. How do you put photograph in your file? It will not allow mine to store, they start the download then note as undeliverable.

If you are buying a £20k plus new car then you will get the autogly lifeshine kit for cost.

If you are buying a £20k plus new car then you SHOULD get the autogly lifeshine kit for cost.

Get a decent Dual Action polishing machine and stack up on pads and polish from Scholl (like S17+ and S40) - you'll get great results and a gloss/shine that actually lasts. Hand applied polishes will mostly fill swirls and RDS's (Random Deep Scratches) will oils and other residue, whereas a machine polish contains abrasives that cut the clear coat down to the level of the scratches/swirls, so that they actually go away. Check out http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/ to learn (a lot) more. Happy detailing :)
