Carbon bonnet

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a carbon bonnet on their VRS?

I have a spare black magic bonnet in my shed and I'm thinking about having it wrapped. If i like it then I'll get the mirrors and roof done also

Any opinions or pics?

Cheers

Heat will be your killer if you skin it in real carbon. Make sure you use hi temp resin.

But i guess you mean sticky vinyl....

I really wouldn't know where to start.

Vinyl it is then lol

I believe only Devonutopia has a real carbon bonnet on here.

I'd like one, but you are looking around £350 plus 5 people wiling to go for it too, to pay for the set up costs...

That's a great price considered

Yes, but in all honesty there are better (and cheaper) ways of losing 15kg. So it's going to struggle to get 5 people interested I feel. :(

I am thinking of importing one from the Czech Republic and filling in the vents to make it look standard.

But then I want mine the same colour as the car.

True. But who does it for weight lol

It's a really time consuming process and that's why it's costly. Vinyl is ok but the real thing knocks its socks off

Well... if I get one I'm spraying it the same colour as the car. :) Carbon is for lightness for me, not for show otherwise a roll of sticky stuff is SO much cheaper.

Yes, takes ages. Ordered two front seats and I was quoted 6 weeks. Takes ages and a queue...

Well, seeing as it first came about for its weight / strength advantage, I think that's obvious really.... All this stickyback plastic, or carbon wrapping (just as bad...) just adds weight. Total antithesis of what it's all about. But it looks wikkid, lolz, etc.

Not a fan I guess lol

Each to there own.

Let's face it there's a very small amount of people who actually need carbon panels etc

For looks it's great. It's better than vinyl any day

I only got mine for weight, Its sprayed silver so looks standard. :)

Now I like that. Cool **** people have no idea you have.

Haha. No, not a fan of doing it for the look, sorry. Probably because it looks like something it isn't :)

Agree but that's the way things go isn't it.

Whatever makes people happy.

Kinda makes lowering a car pointless too as 99.9% is done for looks isn't it. After all who need a car that handles in a society of 30mph speed limits lol

Anyway back on topic

Get some vinyl and your hair dryer .. Job done. You can do a bonnet super easy on your own.

Buy 3m not cheap crap

Can't do quotes from my phone - but agree with the "whatever makes you happy" comment.
