Briskoda 30-130 at Bruntingthorpe

Featured Replies

A few people have expressed an interest at a 30-130 event.

This is usually tricky to arrange due to needing the space to hold it and the run off area needed.

But I have spoken to Bruntingthorpe and they have agreed to allow us to use the facilities there for a group of us to do a Skoda only 30-130 event.

The main rules:

98bd static noise limit.

Only one running at a time.

No crazy driving or we'll all be asked to leave and I won't be arranging anything else.

You will get three runs which will be V-Box logged.

Date to be confirmed, weekend day can be arranged if that will be easier.

Cost dependent of number of cars, but if we can get 10 it's £70 per car.

The costs will be kept down by sharing the site, but it will be safe as we will be seperate.

Full control over the whole airfield results in a cost of around £300 per car+.

Aiming for a weekend in June or early July.

So who is interested?

For those that don't know, a V-Box graph looks like this and accurately plots your speed over time to 0.01 seconds.

Why not do the "standard" 0-100?

Why not do the "standard" 0-100?

The runs will be logged on a V-Box, so those figures will be available too if you chose to go from a standing start.

Basically all the info is logged, so you can chop it up anyway you like.

0-60

0-100

30-130.

etc...

30-130 is popular for those comparing cars as it removes the launch and so is more representative of the car, rather than driver skill.

Although obviously you can never remove driver skill completely.

But why are you specifically looking for 30-130?

But why are you specifically looking for 30-130?

Because some people on the Fabia II forum expressed an interest in a 30-130 event.

(and Devonutopia)

30-130 is a measure of a car's performance, like many other figures.

We could do a 0-100mph event. But why not do it up to 130mph and people can get all the figures they want.

Ah. It all makes sense!

I'm in date dependant :)

I'm in....Date dependant....assuming you let a VW shaped Fabia in?

I will also have use of a Racelogic performance box, but only does measurements to 0.1seconds, 0.1mph and 0.1ft. Can still get all the other measurements though.

BossFox, where are you planning to source the V-Boxes from?

If it's July, count me in otherwise sorry.

Plan is Skoda only.

Although a small number of non-Skodas may be allowed in if we get close to the number we need and need to make the numbers up.

No offense to the non-Skoda owners, but this is Briskoda.

If I was doing a general meet I'd just invite some GT-Rs along instead. ;)

Never had mine up to 130... :wonder:

Dunno if mine would even get up to that fast. I'd be showing about 143 on the

speedo. I've only ever had mine up to a displayed 120 which in reality is probably about 108.

Intrigued by this but can't commit as I'm helping look after a very sick relative at the moment.

Not seen 130 on mine for a while either. Max I've seen ever is 140 and the car felt quite bad, but that was sustained for several miles on autobahns. I brief foray into 130+ can't be too tough, but I sure hope they have all 2 miles of the straight available!

Fastest I've had mine is 123.72mph.

Quite happy at that speed and still in fifth with some to go, so don't think it'll be a problem for a short burst.

Mind you, there is still other data to log if you can't make 130. Like 0-60, 0-100, 30-70 or whatever format you want the data in.

Im up for this ?ar will be ready by then ;-)

I'd be intersted bossfox!

Would need to know dates ASAP to book off work.

Date dependant ill have a pop presuming my car survives Bedford

Interested - do you only get the 3 runs or is there any other activity on the day?

Is there a warm up area/track/circuit to play on for a while

Hmmm, this would be a lot easier on an old yellow car than the track stuff & I'd only have to get the brakes sorted by then! She's happy at a speedo 150 (142) & used to regularly hit speedo 140. So I'd be comfortable doing this one. Won't put my name down just yet but I may well be interested? :)

It's an open day so parts of the airfield will be rented out for other things.

We will have a section of the airfield for half a day to do our runs. Warming up the cars will not be an issue.

I've suggested 3 runs as that's the minimum number each car should get in.

It's not an organised show so there are just the standard facilities there... ie, a cafe and a toilet.

It's an event specifically to record some performance figures, not a play day on the airfield.
