17" rims and tyre sizes?

Featured Replies

OK

I know the sizes that are sposed to go on the fabia but here is one for you............

One of the fitters at work has a VW Polo (the one with the round headlights small and larg on each side) Now is that basically the same car as the mk1 Fabia?

IF so then he has 5 spoke Audi wheels I think TT comps? 17" with 225 45 17 tyres on?

Ive chatted with him and he says there is no probs at all with running them, catching is no prob neither. It makes the car look really beefy lol,

Can it be done on the fabia or is the Polo I described a newer chassis?

They sound a little too big. I had 205/40/17 on my TT comps which looked a little stretched, I replaced the rears with 215/40/17 and they look spot on. Any wider will just effect your MPG I'd have thought. Im sure I read 45 profile would catch on the front. If you get it wrong its an expensive mistake. I replacing my fronts next week with some more 215/40/17's Kumho KU39.

Yea I thought they would of rubbed on stuff but he says they dont, I can eisily see. I have the same sort of setup,

What are the stats on the TT comps?

are they similar to spiders?

7x17 et38????

if so I can see as I have a set of spiders on the Octavia ATM, Might have to pop them on the fabia to see before I sell them. Had a bit of interest in them so will have to be quick.

They may not rub, but I'd expect the rolling radius to be bigger than standard which would make the speedo under read.

It would also kill acceleration a bit as the gearing is effectively increased.

Comps are 7.5 x 17 ET32 iirc

225 45 17 tyres..i magaine they'll make the little fabia like a monster truck, especially if its not lowered

I had 225/45/17 on my mk1 furby and it was lowered 30mm and i would not recommend mine used to catch at the front on bumps and full lock scrubbed and also you will find if its the VRS then there will be part of the bodywork on the n/s rear wheel that sticks out and mine caught on that dont no if all the fabias are the same! In my honest opinion i wouldnt do it 225 is too wide especially with a 45 profile mine being lowered 30mm still didnt look great!

And also the car felt alot slower and handled like a bag of ****!
