New Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Howdy All,

I was up in the Mighty Toon (that's Newcastle to illiterates out there) on Saturday discussing the px'ing of my Black Beast NUTTY for a piddling little (red of all colours) Fabia vRS. I was chatting to the salesman whilst "tootling" around the city and Coast Road when he started telling me about his trip to the Czech Republic the previous week.

"I saw a picture of the new Octy vRS the other day", he says.

I tried to hide any enthusiasm for the topic but said "You did whatttttttt?!?!?!?!?!?"

"Yeah, it looks illegal just standing still", he says with a big daft grin all over his face. "It's going to have the 225 BHP engine that the LCR currently uses and there's enough body kit and spoilers to sort out the Saxo VTS crew for a month".

I don't know whether he was bulling me but there didn't seem to be any point in that as I am trading an Octy and could conceivably have been swayed from my descision to buy a (red, honestly) Fabia and wait for the Octy release which he said was to be December.

I'll be picking up my new (red, red for Christ's sake) Fabia on April 23rd so I'll ask a few more questions then.

You may have noticed my ongoing commentery regarding the colour of my new car - blame my bloody wife :(

All joking aside, I am actually really looking forward to getting into the seat of the Fabia and giving it some without having to worry about the state of the salesman's underpants ;) I've been frantically trying to read up on the possible mods for the little fella - especially remap wise. Any advice regarding whether I would have trouble using Jabba after trying the trial version of Revo would be appreciated. Also, is there word of when the SPS2 or 3 will be available for the Fabia?

Cheers, Mark

Why would they use the old 1.8T when they now have the new 2.0FSI T? Doesn't make sense to put the older engine in.

I can't seem them using an older engine either.

A more powerful version of the 2.0T is likely to come along at some point , but I wouldn't necessarily expect to see it in the new VRS

Getsdownonkneesprayingtothegods smilie.

Oh please don't let them us that 2.0fsi engine, fat chance.

Older technology - well proven - cheaper to them - dunno really but that's what the man said.

When he first said he'd been talking to a tech and had seen a picture, I tried to show off and say I'd heard it was definitely going to be the 2.0 FSi but he was adamant that it would be the 225 BHP 1.8T. To be honest, it was more his comments regarding the styling that piqued my interest :) Also, not going to be 4X4 :(

Nothing wrong with racin red! Looks good with slightly tinted windows too!

Can see some logic in using the 225 lump.

Especially if there are a few spare ones kicking about / whole range / fleet of models out there to support. Skoda effectively pck up the tab for supporting the production lines to cross charge parts *maybe*

Good news that in my book sinc the FSi tech apparantly does not work in the UK.

Might fold my cheque book up till November then, or book a flight somewhere :D

Personally, I would be delighted if they used the 225bhp 1.8T unit in the next generation Octy RS. With our VRT (illegal Government car tax), the 1.8T is just beneath the higher threshold, so it would be approx. €1,500 cheaper than the 2.0 - not to mention the 25 extra ponies

Doesn't FSI require petrol without or very low suphur in it?

As for remap...as long as you tell them it's been REVOed first then no probs....don't know why they need to know though.

Anyone being indecisive about whether to sell their Octy vRS should do now if a new one comes out at the end of the year - there will be a flood of second hand vRS hitting the dealer forecourts! (Not mine though!)

Nor mine. :D

nor mine(er...........not my 4x4 that is :o )

I am led to belive that they are going to be using the same engine as whats in the new Golf Gti 2.0T 200PS 197BHP, hopefully they will fit the DSG Gearbox as well ??

Should make for a very nice car...

There maybe a flood of them then but i can't seem to sell mine at the moment so it won't be any easier come the launch of the new one.

I understood that the 1.8T had been replaced with the 2.0 FSI T because it didn't meet Euro IV, and all new cars have to meet Euro IV. Ergo they can't put the 1.8 T into a new model. Q.E.D.
