revving but no power

Featured Replies

hi i have a 04 diesel octavia ambient automatic 1.9 for a week now which went fine first few days, then today while pressing the accelerator it had no power revometer went right round dial eventually i couldnt get more than 20mph, stopped for 5 mins then seemed to be fine but engine fault light and emissions workshop! have now lit up. any advice on this would be greatly apprieciated as phd skoda dealer and they have quoted £70 to run test, but no sure if the will tell me for definite what the fault is ty all

Think you might be posting in the wrong part of the forum!

Sounds like jamming veins in turbo, common problem on certain diesel engines

If it is it sticky veins it will fault more under load, if its first time its done it you may get away with taking it for a good thrashing but see what other ppl say

04 can still be MK1.

You need to do a scan for any fault codes logged.

Full revs, but minimal speed = faulty autobox maybe?

Oherwise poor performance can be turbo vanes (but unlikely to limit you to only 20mph), so I would try suggest maybe a faulty MAF or CTS (n75 value is unlikely to cause a such a power/speed drop).

Sounds like the clutch isn't engaging

Sounds like the gearbox is knacked and its slipping. Have you checked the oil level of the gearbox and the color of the oil? Plus if it smells burnt
