They look awesome :)

well at least i know i'll be able to find a home for them should i find them a bit bling

Matte lacquer? Or do you want me to stop suggesting things now?

I'm thinking a coating of dirt and brake dust should calm them down a bit!

  • Put the PC down and move away from Google. Somehow that's reminded me of a dress the lead singer of The Gossip was wearing on Chatty Man. It suited her as much as it would suit your alloys, now behav

  • Well I learnt a new amazing technique last night!! It's called............giving a crap! Essentially if you take more time and care more about the outcome the results seems to be loads better! Craz

  • Id say do the red, but then I'm a little bit odd when it comes to wheels as you know.

crackle black over the top so you have gold vanes running through it :p lol

I would have thought flatting it wouldn't make too much of a difference with that kind of metallic colour mate... It'd just be a smoother shiny if that makes sense.

I honestly i dunno why I ever doubted myself ;)

Yes under an artificial light and in flash photography the insides (a vast expanse of gold) were a bit ..um.."overwhelming"

Having done the faces tonight they may actually be my favourite thing ever!

and sized up against Pastywagon #2 - not that they'll ever get on Mrs pasty's car but it was outside the garage while my car was down the road

I'm thinking now that i might save the clear lacquer and just give these half a dozen coats of gold instead, and then 2-3 coats of wax.

I bought 4 x 400ml cans and so far with a coat to all 4 insides and 2 coats to all faces i've used a can and a half!

I'm pretty sure i won't have call to spray anything else metallic gold so no point keeping the extra.

That way i can keep the clear for when i get the spiders back to silver again

Is not lacquering them a bad idea?

Yes!!!

They look AWESOME!

Lol thats rather bright, I do like the 1st pic though.. very cool, I like the dirt idea too!

Their pretty lush mate!!!!! :D:D:D

Is not lacquering them a bad idea?

Personally... I would find something at this point - spray some gold down on it... Then spray some lacquer and make the decision then.

Not lacquering will mean they'll suffer a lot more faster. If you aren't particularly concerned about that though, don't worry about it. If you are... Then at least if you do a test spray you can make an informed decision.

Now - what to paint shiny gold and lacquer... Hmmmm ;)

Look REALLY good I think. Nice to see something different.

I'll have to start a thread about my BBS's I think.

Good work! They are golder than gold. Just need the 18ct gold stamp to finish them off.

Are they perfect? No not by a long shot.

Are they good enough for me? Yes too right they are.

Am I glad i've done somethign different? Too right I am

Do they actually look good? I'm not so sure.

Do they make me smile everytime i see them? Hell yeah.

and the answer to the last question is the only one i really care about

Comment from the lovers and the haters welcome i'm sure there will be plenty from both camps :D

i like them mate

Bang tidy Cliff. Those wheels look better than I'd imagined they would.

Well done.

I'm still not entirely sure they work with the red

They'd look sweet as on Mrs Pasty's black car but given she think they are (and i quote) "the most ridiculous things she has ever seen" that is never ever EVER going to happen.

As said about though they make me smile everytime i see them :)

Sexual

I really like that! Good work, mate :D

Gold wheels are so yesterday

That's why I love ’em so much :)

When i first saw them, i didn't like them but the more i see them, the more i actually like them. :)

As said though, it's how you feel that matters most.

Looking good :)

Top work!

Glad you had the patience to finish after lots of frustrations!

And thanks for giving me some motivation to get off my backside and get mine done - i'll show you mine when i'm done with clear ;)

Like that! Nice to have something different. Now WHAT colour to paint those GTI wheels I have?! :D

Very nice work mate. If I need the Fun alloys re-furbed I now know where to come ;)
