  • Put the PC down and move away from Google. Somehow that's reminded me of a dress the lead singer of The Gossip was wearing on Chatty Man. It suited her as much as it would suit your alloys, now behav

  • Well I learnt a new amazing technique last night!! It's called............giving a crap! Essentially if you take more time and care more about the outcome the results seems to be loads better! Craz

well i have 2 weeks to get this finished (into whatever colour i decide) after that point the garage will become full of a SORD'd black Fabia VRS so i'll lose my work place.

oh what to do what to do

Looks good, get the glitter on so we can have a laugh see what it looks like. :D

If i'm having trouble convincing her on gold glittery gold will never fly!

i really think it's gunna be gold now

She's away for this week with work so i could potentially get it done and the wheels on by the time she gets back! :D

the wier wheels from my drill have arrived so i'll be back on it tonight

Remember the old saying :-

"Shoot first, ask questions later"

Get them done, put them on, and see if she notices :)

but Brimdog i do not want to be shot! :D

to be fair though i put the black wheels on while she was away and she was so jet lagged when I picked her up she didn't notice!

There you go then, sound as a pound :)

................. Sqqqqqqqqqquuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaall.

Have just thought that i could be persuaded to try it for size on the black car if needs be ;)

You know you wanna...

Looks top on the Red as well, though......

See,.. I told ya, GOLD! lol ;)

I think Pasty has been inspired by a close encounter with a vehicle at the ’how fast’ track day ;)

Brimdog i actually said to Sam on that that very day that it "didn't look as horrific as i expected"

High praise indeed

I did then see the interior later in the day and actually laughed out loud :p

In a good way, of course :)

In a good way, of course :)

You decided to remove all the interior? Race seat? :p

so a couple of evenings in the garage and everything is pretty much sanded down

IMG_7025.jpg

insides wire wheels to hell

IMG_7027.jpg

IMG_7028.jpg

so i primed up the fronts as much as i could

IMG_7033.jpg

there are still some issues but i'm hoping some more coats of primer and some sanding down should balance them out

This looks awfully familiar to the corrosion/bubbling on mine!

Fun fun fun.

You using powertools for that I take it? ;)

my father inlaws on his Golf PD150 also corroded in much the same way i reckon these aren't examples of BBS's finest work.

spokes sanded by hand inners scrubbed with wire wheels on a power drill

Looking good so far Pasty :-)

I've primed up the frotn of the fourth wheel as well as the insides of the 3 pictures above - my work bench (a large cardboard box covered in a duvet cover :D) is onyl lareg enough to fit 3 wheels on at a time - and having dragged them out to the day light rather than the single bulb in the garage i've really rushed the prep work on these. - Damn you stupid impatience caused by a tiny tin of gold paint!

This picture from above is typical of the issue

IMG_7037.jpg

Essentailly the corrosion has bubbled the paint and primer off the metal and my sanding has removed that but i haven't sanded enough of the surrounding area down to give a smooth finish.

Unfortuantely it's not really something you can feel (especially if you've sanded your finger tips down in the process) not see when they are sanded.

Stuff like that only stands out when primed; as do the slightly unsmooth spoke face where i've repaired the worst of the kerb damage.

Unsure now if i should sand the areas all the way down again, add more coats of primer and hopefully sand it back to flat, or to just ignore it and get on wth my life :S

Sand it down mate.

You'll only know it's there otherwise every time you look at them...

I'm STILL sanding mine down. Dremels however are wonderful things to get into the nooks and crannys. :D

......*cough* Hammerite *cough*.......

ohhhhhh an e-doughnut to that man!!

i actually have a tin of silver hammerite in the garage!!

Now i can see the worst areas i could patch them with coats of hammerite before sanding back flat again and addding a final coat of primer...

Genius - if a bit pikey :D

so i'm giving the above repair by coat of paint a go.

Marks like this

now look like this

IMG_7056.jpg

and this

IMG_7060.jpg

and this

IMG_7059.jpg

a thick coat of hammerite silver applied with an inch and a half brush :D

just waiting for it to dry so i can then see if its possible to sand it back to flat and how hard that task proves.

I'm that confident in the plan working that i've only done one wheel

I can't see it going well dude.
