New Vredestein Vorti's

Just searching for replacements for my Sessantas and found that vredestein have released 2 new tyres. But the Vorti is the one that has captured my eye, as the sportrac 5 is not available in 225/40 R18.

Will be getting the Vorti's I think. The asymetric design looks decent and at £112 from Tyremen, present decent value as always, only hope they are decent on the road! Time will tell.

I've just checked these out on Vred's website and they look to be the real McCoy.

Limited sizes available for now but amazing they do the 225/40 18, as all other sizes are for 'high performance' cars. There's a video on the website with Aston Martin, Maserati and other exotica see here;- http://www.vredestein.com/

I wonder if the Vorti will ultimately replace the Ultrac Sessanta which I've heard is too noisy to pass forthcoming EU regulation tests.

PS> £112 for the 225/40 18 is a stormingly good price; Hunty278 you've done well.

Got the Vorti's fitted a few weeks ago. Initial thoughts-

The side wall bulges around the top towards the tread slighty which looks a little strange at first compared with the sessantas on the front. However it seems that this means there is more rubber on the road .

The side wall design is busy, which IMO looks good! But won't be to everyones taste.

Grip. It isn't easy to tell as they are fitted to the rear at the moment. They seem as grippy as the sessantas and a little quieter too, but will update further when they are transfered to the front in a couple thousand miles or so.

Tread Design. They aren't as striking as the sessantas in terms of tread pattern, but Assymetric is leading the way at the moment and they will conform with the new EU regs on noise when they are introduced.

Price. I managed to get them for £106 each delivered. Asked tyremen if they could price match mytyres, as I am a proud brit and would rather be spending my money in britain with a british company rather than a german one. They price matched which is great, top customer service from tyremen.co.uk!

Overall, decent so far, will update once they are on the front!

Neil

Thank you, but hunty278 refered to new EU noise regs, which were only changed in March 2010. The links you have kindly posted are to do with the new tyre label's, which I guess is what he meant, its a shame these new label's don't show wet lateral grip level. .

I read that these would be conforming with new EU regs on noise, having said that I cannot remember where I read this and a quick search threw up nothing on google so I could've imagined it. Sorry

Bit of an update for the Vorti's.

Put them on the front a couple of thousand miles, and with the wet weather it's been perfect for testing them. And as vredesteins are wet weather specialists, I wasn't expecting them to dissappoint. And they didn't. They are definately a step up from the sessantas. The under steer I get from the sessantas on the front has been eradicated! Even in the wet they wouldn't let go. No aquaplaning as you would expect. After a bit of spirited driving they do get hot, moreso than the sessantas, so time will tell how they wear, but as for performance, they are top notch!

Completely agree about these in the wet... When I got my current wheels they had brand new set of these tyres on them... In the dry every bit as good as the Toyo t1-r's I normally run, but in the wet were hands down much much better and little to no understeer as you said!

Highly recommend these tyres!

Just bought a set of these myself so eager to see how they behave, im thinking the great wet abilities might be down to what i can only describe as teeth within the rings of the tyre i've uploaded a picture so people can see. The ring nearest the inner of the car has the least with them progressively getting denser on the outer rings.

Must admit I'm interested in these. Best price at present is £101 from Camskill plus shipping 11.96 plus fitting from a local garage for £12 a corner.

or £102.00 from Tyremen with delivery @ £10 for 4 tyres;if you fancy - http://www.tyremen.co.uk/product/11131/22540r18-%2892y%29-ultrac-vorti-xl.aspx

Any further comments/updates on the "Vorti's"?

They didn't do too well in EVO's 2012 tyre test, only coming 5th or 6th.

Whereas the Ultrac Seesanta came 2nd in 2010; IIRC

Ive got sportrac 5's on my fabia only on the front. . Amazing tyres.

few thousand mile and no visible wear yet :) also not to loud and grip like mad!

Fabia are well known for being docile and not liking corners. But these tyres wont let go . Cant even get the steering to the light stage just before they let go . But this is because my protenza's on the rear keep letting go.

but with the precision of the sportrac's its not hard to keep in track (once you expect it anyways)

Having had the Ultrac Sessanta's fitted to my vRS hatchback diesel (re-mapped to 215.5bhp & 470Nm) for the past 4 years, summer use only, it is once again time to change. These have been excellent tyres throughout the time I've had them and covered over 30000 miles however, it's time to move on. Having read many reviews and posts over the last few months, don't want to make the wrong tyre choice after having such a great set, it looks like over all the other tyres available the Ultrac Vorti's are coming out top, for me anyway. For those of you interested, Camskill are currently offering the Vorti in a 225/40 R18 92Y XL for £87.10 plus a small P&P fee. (As of 19 Jan 14)

Lets hope the Vorti is as good, if not better, than the Sessanta's that they stand to replace.

That is all.

:-)

You shouldn't be disappointed with the Vorti's. They are superb in the dry and decent in the wet. I have put my older sessantas on the front to wear them out and there is a noticeable lack of wet and dry grip. The sessantas are only from 2012 so they arent too old to have hardened and lost their grip capabilities. I will be going for a new set of vorti's after the summer for sure.

I've had 4 of these on MY2010 Octavia vRS cr170 for about 3000 miles now and they are absolutely faultless.

I was taking a punt when I moved away from the Eagle F1 assy 2s but I'm glad I did.

It's not easy to compare the two tyres unless you have a set of each bedded in and then go out on a test back to back. However, the "company" I work for has three mk2 vRS cr170s (identical to mine) in the fleet and I do around 20000 miles a year in the works vehicles. At the end of my shift I get in my own car and have often gone for a spirited drive to compare the feeling of the two. All our work vehicles run Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 2 and they are changed as soon as the tread gets near 3mm. I am often well in excess of 100mph in the works cars and drive them in absolutely all weather conditions and over a varied mix of urban, rural and motorways.

Without doubt I can hand on heart say that the Vortis are a better tyre that the F1's. Not simply because they are a lot cheaper but because they do everything better. I think they are quieter, give better feedback, wear better, grip better in all conditions................. The list goes on.

I never thought a tyre could do everything better than the F1s but Vredestein have really hit the nail on the head with these.

Hi guys,

I've been a tyre fitter for around 18 years now (I'm 34) and have seen lots of patterns come and go.

I work at a company called "wheels and tyres direct" in Beccles, suffolk and we are vredestein dealers. As I get a modest discount on vredesteins I decided to give the Vorti a go.

When I first bought my octavia vrs tdi it had Bridgestone on it and handled like a pig, it also spun the wheels in 2nd.

I've now had 2 sets of vorti's on it and can't fault them at all. It's like they were made for the car.

They are stable, quiet, great in the wet and lol the part too. I like to run mine at around 36psi normally.

I can't recommend the vorti's enough for anyone thinking of trying them!
