Air in fuel line

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Skoda Octavia 1.9td mark 1. I am having problems with air in the fuel line. It shows as air bubbles just before the filter. The car stalls quite often but then starts again immediately.New filter fitte but still same problem. Engine light on all the time

Any ideas

Thanks

What codes have you got with the engine light?

On the diagnostic machine I am using it has no codes. It comes up as injector/pump/cam/timing belt. Timing belt has been replaced but the engine light was on before this. we think it has been drawing in air all the time we have had it

I had a problem with my previous volvo diesel and it used to cut out randomly when it was getting low on fuel, bit scary when in outside lane of motorway.

I changed all sorts but eventually traced the problem to scum in tank sender unit, took it out stripped it down and cleaned it out and then refiited it and it was fine after that, had a friend with a clio that had same problem

Neither cars had any fault codes

Are you talking about the clear pipe between the filter and injection pump? If so bubbles are completely normal.

You could do with finding someone local to you with VCDS who can get a bit more information on the fault. The 109 relay (which power the ecu) can cause random cut outs if it goes faulty (along with all sorts of weird problems).

IIRC there is also a valve in the injection pump which can come apart and cause problems. It's a pressure relief valve I believe.

When we had someone with a machine that showed codes it appeared to be coming up 'low pressure'

Have had another messs around today. the error code appears to be P0251 1/G   Injector pump    fuel metering control

Have had another messs around today. the error code appears to be P0251 1/G Injector pump fuel metering control

A quick search with google threw up the following:

EOBD II Error Code: P0251

Fault Location:

Injection pump fuel metering control A, cam/rotor/injector - circuit malfunction

Possible Cause:

Wiring.

Injection pump.

Engine control module (ECM).

I would start by cheking the wiriing around pump and also have a look at this link.

Smear the ends of the fuel pipes, and cover the joins with vaseline so that air can't get in.

Also worth putting a new fuel filter and seals in if it's not obvious from the above as the seals can degrade and let in air when they get old.

Took valve out and it needed adjusting. Running smoother but still cutting out. Have smeared joints with vaseline this morning to try.

Always change the fuel filter first if you have bubbles in the pump feed line. Also lift the back seat and check the tank strainer and blow the lines through.

Hi,

I have a skoda octavia MKII 2011 model

it’s a 1.8 tsi engine

I’m facing a air lock problem in my fuel line/fuel tank I’ve changed almost everything related to the fuel problem

I’ve change high pressure pump, low pressure pump, fuel pump, fuel filter

And still couldn’t solve the issue

when I drive it for some time and stop the car the air comes in the fuel line. My mechanic told me that there’s no solution for my problem. I’m very much fed up but I also don’t want to sell my car

And the problem also comes whenever I park my car at uneven surface  if I park my car on an incline there are 100% chances of my car to catch air.
Is there someone who could help me solve my problem
