Nissan Fairlady Z Slicktop - RWD Summer sports bargain !

Featured Replies

A reluctant sale, I just don't have the money to enjoy her as I hoped I could, and for that reason she is currently Sorned.

The wifes been nagging I should sell if I can't run her, and much as I would like to keep hold of her (the car!) I have to admit (under duress!) SWMBO could be right.

The car was imported in 2007 (Registered new in Japan 1995), so hasn't suffered the ravages of UK winters / roads for too many years. As a result a very solid car above and below and inbetween, unlike a few I looked at when buying !

For those not in the know, this is the SWB manual "slicktop" version. this means 2 seater solid roof, not 2+2 targa as the UK cars were, resulting in the car being lighter, shorter and stiffer than the 2+2, in essence a more "pure" version if you like.

The car also benefits from being a manual (many were sold with auto's, which is generally less desirable). Powered by an N/A 3.0 litre V6 producing circa 225 hp when new.

Uk spec cars were twin turbo's producing 280 hp, but obviously a 15-20 year old twin turbo motor could easily end up being a money pit as a few owners have found out ! No such worries here ;)

I bought this car of a member on an entusiast site, and since have given her a lot of love and attention to get her to how I wanted.

Currently she has no Tax or MOT, but she has only covered approx 980km/610 miles since the last mot, and she only had advisories for front brake pads wearing thin, and 2 tyre close to legal limit then.

Both of those issues have been addressed as below, and the underside/and bodywork is very solid, so there should be no problem with a new MOT.

Since I owned it I have:

Service/mechanical items:

Had a full engine service, new millers synthetic oil, genuine nissan oil filter, new fuel filter, New NGKPFR6G-11 (OEM fitment) spark plugs.

New Front Brake Pads (Brembo).

Gearbox oil changed for Redline MT90.

Nismo gearbox rubber mount.

Blitz air filter.

Brand New correct fitment Battery fitted, along with S/H nissan plastic tray and clamp. (missing when I purchased).

Japspeed Stainless de-cat pipes fitted with most bolts replaced, with stainless, and all copper greased before re-assembly. (I still have the original exhaust system and cats if required although the age and being an import means it should be MOT'd as a non cat car).

S/H cat back sports exhaust fitted. (not loud, just a nice grown up throaty sound).

18" 5 Spoke Alloys with brand new rear tyres (less than 50 miles on the rears), and fronts with lots of tread left, all even.

MPH converted fitted at approx 118900 km (now reading 118929).

Rear high wing removed, and boot profesionally resprayed.

Rear bumper profesionally resprayed (was laquer peeling).

Rear centre panel was scratched, was replaced with vgc S/H item and led rear fog light fitted in place of one reverse light.

Rear lights replaced with a set of original nissan ones reworked with clear indicator lenses.

Cloth Seats Replaced with Leather seats with electric drivers side.

Centre console armrest replaced with leather Item.

Pioneer face off CD/Tuner HU with wiring instaled ready for Amp and Sub + jack plug for mp3 player installed in centre console tray.

Rear speakers replaced with new ones in standard size.

Rear reflectors/sidelights replaced with clear lense & red bulbs.

Cat 2 Insurance/Thatcham approved immobilizer (keyless) profesionally fitted with certificate.

Bits need doing:

Scuttle panels could use replacing. (cosmetic).

Gearshift rubber gaitor need replacing (the one under the leatherette) as it has a split. (doesn't affect operation).

Air con needs regassing.

A very nice example of a future modern classic (can be insured on a classic policy).

Something you don't see too often, and being a SWB Slicktop even more so.

3 UK owners, myself and the guy I bought it of both mature owners.

TTT

Very Nice - it's just a shame I would never be able to convince SWMBO to have 4 cars...
