Does this suspension look right to you?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

im after some help regarding the front suspension of the Yeti...

Could anyone possibly confirm that the the photos below are correct in terms of how the anti-roll bar drop links connect to the damper units. The photos below are with me standing centrally under the car, looking towards the front of the vehicle. The first photo is of the passenger side - note that the bar is attached to the damper unit from the front side of the vehicle and bolted this side, nearer to the camera. However, on the drivers side (second) photo, the link is attached from this side and bolted from the front. It looks a little odd to me but Im aware things arent always symetrical in terms of design but Id like someone to confirm this is how it should be if at all possible.

Thanks in advance, any help greatly appreciated,

Could it be that they use the same strut for both sides of the vehicle - in other words the struts are not "handed" so they rotate the strut dependent on side and the attachment points for the brake lines can be made from either side of the bracket.

ARBs often aren't symmetrical, so it should be fine, and as vegit8 has said, parts are often un-handed.

The ARB looks fine across the vehicle, its the links going up to the shock absorber. One is bolted from the front, one from the back - or is that what you mean is ok?

thanks

Yeah, the bar as whole (including the drop links etc) aren't normally fully symmetrical, so to me that looks fine! What vegit8 said is true, if you look at where the drop links are attached, they're both clearly bolted through the same "side" of the mounting tab that sticks out of the body of the shock, just it's on the other side because the shock is twisted the other way around.

Thanks very much guys. :)

Yes mine are the same - cannot say that it looks very elegant but I suppose it's OK. I presume someone can check and prove that both links are supposed to be the same part number?

I have checked and this part (1K0 411 315K) is the only one used on Superbs, Octavias and Yetis....
