front o/s spring skoda superb (04)

Featured Replies

One spring is broken at the bottom end ie missing section of final bit of coil -- Europart( wesbsite ) advice is to replace springs as pairs -- is it always necessary? any idea as to man hours required to do 1 and or 2 springs

Thanks

Yes, it's necessary, because the other old spring is worn like broke one and will probably brake also or will make your car lower from one side.

Depends on spring compressor(s) used and the state of pinch bolts.

I managed to do both sides on my car in under 1hr all included, but that's using hydraulic spring compressor and with pre-greased and not seized pinch bolts.

Depending on car's age, shock replacement might be advisable too (both sides) as it is same job, and if you fancy better handling for your nose-heavy autobox, put Bilstein B6 shocks and thickest OEM sport springs (I think 2 orange dots marking, but I might be wrong). Front suspension height with this setup will change only about 10mm, as Bilstein monotubes provide extra 25kg spring action, and OEM sport springs have around 20mm drop.
