Fitting Armrest

Today i fitted my Mk4 Golf Armrest

post-86052-0-75198300-1335530979_thumb.jpg

Came with bracket and captive nuts quite simple to fit but base could do with some modding

Firstly remove the rear cup-holder to reveal two t20 torx screws and remove them

then you can lift and remove the surround sliding it up the handbrake and removing clip on lighter socket.

Then slide on the two captive nuts and remove the circled handbrake nut as you should have a nut with a threaded shaft on to replace it with

Then bolt on mount. you may need to cut some away for lighter socket as will sit a little higher when in place but i didnt

Then refit surround

And bolt on arm rest to mount

You will now be left with the plastic trim that fits the sides which will need to be modified to fit and you will also loose use of the rear cup holder

How come you lost the use of the rear cup holder? You can still get the correct trims from skoda.

Good guide, maybe one of the mods can move this to the guides section.

Nice shot of the handbrake adjuster yoke as well, I may be nicking that in future when people ask about adjusting their handbrakes

weird you didnt cut off the 3rd led (no pun intended) i fitted a bora arm rest and had to decapatate 1 of the legs for the surround to fit correctly. i just trimmed the mk4 sides to make them fit the sides of the arm rest as well. Cup holders still there and all is as it should be?

Probably look into that then.on lost rear cupholder as it wont stay closed when the golf trim is on the armrest

Works fine with the correct skoda one, got mine from a member on here. Weird thing about mine though is that the alloy fitting which is what I've seen them come with isn't alloy, looks like a very well made steel one, fits perfect though lol

Yep the Octy ones are different, the mounting bracket slightly different and side panel plastics as mentioned you do not need to cut or trim anything with the Octy one. The Golf one does fit as seen but be prepared for a little messing about.

Rather than create ANOTHER arm rest thread, I'll make my query about this here.

1. Am I correct in saying that the easiest way to get a decent arm rest for the vRS is to get one from an Elegance or L&K version?

2. If that's the case, do they have black leather ones?

3. The last thing is, are they sturdy? My vRS came with a flimsy, horrible arm rest the previous owner must have got for about a fiver on eBay, and I had to remove it.

I had one out of and l&k. That was black leather. seemed strong. I used to lean on it while getting stuff off the back seat

Did you have to do any butchering to fit it? Was there any metal bracket showing or the like?

No modification required

(2001 - I think - l&k into a 2005 vrs)

No metal showing. Basically a perfect fit

Yup no mods needed what so ever, really sturdy have a sore back at the mo and keep on using it when getting out without any problems.

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

Am I restricted to the L&K for a black leather one, or do you get black leather in the Elegance, too?

It's a long time since I did mine but I think at the time I looked the elegance had leather as an option so the default is a cloth armrest

any arm rest from any golf/bora/a3 will work. just re trim the top with leather. (see my build thread its easy)

the trims on the side you can fit as well you just need to trim them. No need to much about with this and that. :)

Is there a Skoda retrofit arm rest kit available? Is there a part number for the kit? If there is not a kit available, is there a comprehensive parts list? I have the following noted down:

Lower arm rest part number 3B0867174 47H

Arm Rest upper: 3B0867173

Cover 1U0 864 280 4 7H

End Cap 1U0 864 279 4 7H

Mount 1U0 864 273 C

I am trying to retrofit the armest into a 2002 Skoda Ocatvia Ambiente.

Thanks

I actually found the OEM armrest kit at superskoda part number DAO300001. Waiting for the shipment now.

I think I remember you saying something about it being 'tricky', or was that something else??

The reason I was looking for an OEM Skoda black leather one was because I didn't like the idea of cutting and botching plastic trim. You didn't document the trim cutting I don't think, did you?

I might trying this. I haven't got an upholstery stapler in the house, but I'm sure they're not that expensive.
