starting problems skoda superb 1.9tdi

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I am usually a very happy skoda driver, however i am having a problem with my may 2008 superb 1.9tdi.

The problem is intermittent starting problems when engine is hot.The car starts perfectly well when cold but sometimes struggles when hot.

I have had glowplugs replaced and cam sensor which were showing as faults but it has not made a difference.Skoda have tested the car but they say there is no fault. My usual garage have registered a fault of glowplug relay fault on their equipment, but cannot locate the same as it is not under the drivers side panel as the other electrical fuses and sensors are.

Can anyone help please

Dave

Hi keith i have spent 400pounds trying to identify the problem i have now put my old starter motor back on vehicle and it starts perfectly(apparently when starter motor gets warm it does not send bendix into flywheel at correct speed)hope this helps

Cheers Dave

I had really poor starting (hot and cold) and only just replaced the het sensor for the glow plugs but I must admit, cold starting is better than hot. It seems it makes up its own mind when to start well or not when hot. Had battery checked and its OK - car had new starter motor fitted before I bought the car in 2010.

Its like you have to surprise the car when starting! lol I turn key immediately before letting lights go out and seem to have more success that way.
