Locking wheel nut key -AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Featured Replies

Had a busy couple of days getting octy ready for trackday am doing tommorow,

Got my R32 front end on at last weekend arms, hubs, roll bar etc and tracked it all up, after work one night this week i put some spare just legal tyres on my spare rims so i didn't ruin my road tyres also changed oil and filter and fuel filter and adjusted tracking abit.

Won a decat pipe on ebay so fit fit that last night and this morning, finished at 4 today and thought last job ill swop wheels over as there still road legal and save me doing it in morning at track if its raining again and throw my front tyres in boot ready for morning.

Then i spend the next hour and abit looking for my sodding locking wheel nut key, i had it on saturday and thought id put it back in car but can i find it not a chance. Looks like am doing trackday on my road wheels then.

Now sat at home kicking myself trying to think where i had it last and where i put it, could have smashed them off as we have tools at work to do it but i didn't even have any studs to put in there place and did know where i could get any at half 5 on a friday.

Hope you find it.

Skoda sell replacements

Replacement keys, i presume i need a code for it tho as i would imagine there is a few different combinations

Easier option is go to motor factors and get left threaded wheel locking nut removal sockets(£15-20)

they are threaded and just grip as you undo the bolt. job done

.

Random thought but have you checked the rails that the seat moves back and forth on? I had mine in my pocket, jumped in the car to move it and it fell out and found it's way under the seat and it is just the right size to sit in the channel. Until I stuck my head in the rear footwell with a torch I couldn't see it.

Left it on the wheel bolt when you tightened the last bolt at the weekend? I'd check the first few yards of your drive after changing the wheels to see if its fallen off at the side of the road. I am highly OCD about where I keep my locking nut in the car, especially as I don't have a spare, and they're not ones I can get through Skoda either.

I had simmiler prob, mot fail 2 x tyres no lock nut so i improvised with a 16mm socket and a big hammer, needless to say my spiders need a re-firb now...............................

I am guilty of doing this. I only have the one key for mine, so these days I always check I have the key in its normal storage location before settings off if I have removed any of the wheels.
