Airbag light flashing, fault needs resetting

Featured Replies

Hi

You may have read my other thread regarding the ignition barrel.

During the process of removing the steering lock one of the wires to the airbag was knocked loose, and the airbag light is now permanently flashing.

What type of code reader is required to reset the fault code causing this?

The Felicia is V reg.

Sorry, you will have to expand on that, I am just techy enough to be dangerous and that did not compute :)

VAG COM is software that allows you to access the electronics on the car (orrather the engine ECU, immobiliser and airbag unit). To use it, you need the software and a cable.

I've never done the airbag, but have accessed the ECU on my old Felicia - it was pretty easy, used a cable I got off ebay for under £10, and the free version of the vag com software. Not done it in years (rally car has an aftermarket ECU), but should be straightforward, I'm sure someone who's used it recently can help you out.

.......also known as VCDS these days ;)

sorry i was tired i converted mine to a 1.6slxi with aircon but no ABS got to do that yet and coverted the in side to run both air bags and i did it over weeks so took time to put them in. so i ended up with air bag light on was driving old car with no dash board in. Vag com can turn it off you got to delete the codes of air bag ecu. i have vag com if you ever come this way and spare ecu

if any one ever takes air bag out this is the way not to get this to happen

remove - battery cable

then remove air bag

do the work needed

then refit air bag

now put ignition to the on postion

reconnect battery

NO LIGHT ON

only works if no air bag light on
