DMF Safety

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone have definite info on how much power and torque that a standard DMF fitted to an Octavia 2.0 tdi PD140 will take safely on a long term basis, I.E what the manufactures rate it for?

Been thinking about a Revo remap for ages but I keep reading arcticles that say remaps destroy DMF's and at £1000 I don't fancy that.

Hoping someone has the answer.

Has anyone Revo'd the same car and done a lot of miles without DMF failure?

Thanks.

I didn't mod my Octy at all, but the DMF lasted about 90k (about standard) if that helps?

Please excuse a newbie's ignorance,but what is a DMF?

Many thanks George. I'm getting an Octy vRS with a petrol engine and DSG so presumably I won't be bothered by DMF problems.

I *think* a petrol with DSG will have a DMF.

I remember a day - not too long ago - when I too was blissfully unaware of the existance of the DMF.

I am afraid that before long, like most people on here, you will be painfully aware of DMFs

Be assured they are the work of the devil himself.

Worst of all they are almost impossible to avoid these days.

About the best you can do is choose a model where there is a SMF conversion available.
