Hi there. :hi:

Just about to join the ranks of Diesel ownership ( drive enough of them in tractor form at work though  ) for the first time, with an imminent purchase of a 2007 Octavia VRS. Will be the first time outside of Vauxhall ownership too. Not owned too many cars in my 24 years of driving, Mk1 Cavalier 1.6L, Mk 2 Cavalier 1.6LX, Belmont 1.8 GLSi, Mk3 Cavalier 1.6L, Mk3 Cavalier 2.0SRi, Mk3 Cavalier 2.5v6 and finally for the last 8 years a Vectra 2.5GSi. Have been dithering for a while about getting a diesel and a change of manufacture mainly because of the GSi's near faultless reliability in that time. Fingers crossed the VRS will be just as good to me and I will enjoy many years of ownership with it.

From one newbie to another... Welcome!

I have had 2 Skoda's and never been let down :) You like your Cavalier's then? :giggle:

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome to Briskoda - quite a change from Vauxhall over to Skoda.

Had it a few weeks now and very pleased with it. Just been sorting a few bits on it,like rubber floor mats (Vrs textile ones and living on a farm isn't going to work), boot liner (for when I have to relief milk on one of the other estate dairies and need to chuck my milking wear and boots in the car) and mudflaps. A new spare wheel/tyre, as when I lifted the boot carpet there was nothing there. New gearknob insert to replace the worn original. New plates to replace the watermarked originals. Got a set of Ferodo discs and pads all round coming some time soon and a Gates Alternator belt kit arrived today (will fit that over the bank holiday).

Gave it a bit of a service last week using Mobil1 ESP 5w30 oil and UFI oil filter, UFI fuel filter, UFI charcoal cabin filter and UFI air filter. Going 'fixed intervals' as I will be doing it yearly and the oil at least will get done before the car tells me it needs doing. IMO variable service intervals are madness.

Had the wheel alignment done. Front was fine but both rears had over 2 degrees negative camber.

Got it booked into a body shop for the end of the month to get a few bits sorted out on the paint and then I think that will be her sorted then.
