Remap Friendlily Insurance?

Featured Replies

Its that dreaded time of year again!

I was with Admiral, but a combination of a remap and sp30 has sent my insurance up to £950. That is doing 14k a year though.

Adrian flux & all the standard compare the market sites cant beat it so i was wondering who you are all with? :)

Before you said that I was going to say Admiral

They've sorted me for the last couple with several mods fitted, but then I'm getting on a bit

yeah, they were cheapest for me last year, but with the remap (+£100) and sp30 (+£150) I was wondering if anyone had any left field options! ;)

£950 with 7 years NCB though, that really annoys me. :(

Its disgusting how insurance companies operate these days...

The SP30 is always used it as a reason to cane even more ££££ off us, makes me sick!

They still ask to declare for 5 years however they only stay on licence for only 3?

No wonder so many drive without insurance.

Good luck with your search, possibly a re-map and a SP30 spell trouble for most insurers... might be time to get rid of the re-map?

Chris Knott are competitive, have matched most quotes see online via compare sites when renewing... been with them for 4 years or so now, but I have a clean licence and I am getting on now too...

Try Brentacre

how on earth does an SP30 add £150, i have SP30, 4 points and it put my insurance up £13 when declared in May, renewed my policy the following November and the renewal still dropped.

Another vote for Brentacre from me.

There's an article in auto express this week about insurance. Not read the full article but it looks like most insurance companies are putting up rates by approx 20% for those convicted. I seem to recall that if your convicted for using a mobile 50% of companies won't insure you. They're starting to get tough.

Brentacre are excellent to deal with. £449 for 30y/o in Sheffield with Remap, Nav, Miltek downpipe, BBS wheels, coilovers, recaros, porsche brakes, mk6 mfsw etc declared.

I'm just about to renew with Primo plc. who cover my bike and all the family's cars on one policy. Can't rate them highly enough. No issues with alternative alloys for winter tyres etc. Don't know about remaps, but they seem OK with anything improving MPG.;) Working out at average of less than £300 per car, but I'm middle aged, over 9 yrs NCB and rural.

Try Green Light. Best quote I got by some margin.

Same as above!

+1 for Brentacre, been with them for 3 years now, brilliant service as well.......I live in a high risk postcode and am paying £499 with a clean license

I hate insurance companies :( my Mk1 Fabia VRS in UK was £330 then £300 the next year spot on (remapped) then I move out of UK but kept a car there as a run around and insured it to keep my 9 years NCB alive etc and £495 for a £230 1997 1.6 Astra!!!!! (there again it was gold so maybe that made it higher risk)

You should count yourself lucky, I had 2 x SP30 and they added £300 for each one.

Have you tried Skoda Insurance? Elephant/Admiral refused to quote me last time with my remap.

With no claims or points my insurance went up by 25%. Skoda were still cheaper than our site sponsors and IAM's Surety as well.

Yep, I love you guys! Bryantacre dropped it to £850. Am pretty pleased with that, 14k a year, remap and sp30. I paid that last year but the sp30 will probably have wiped our any discount the extra year ncb would have given me.

Will keep trying all those you guys recommend, but I'm pleased with that! :)
