Amber steering wheel warning light

Featured Replies

Hi guys, sadly it seems av reached that time in my ownership were am gonna be tappin this forum more an more. I got a 1.9pd dsg on the cabs at 77k 57 plate. firstly a local mechanic when servicing told me i needed 2 new shocks at the front cos mine were leaking. Purchased skoda oem parts an tbh cant feel any difference but when i collected the car after he fitted the drivers side my abs and asr warning lights were on the dash. I phoned an said whats the score with the warnings for him to tell me that he noticed the wiring or sensor had failed and he has done me the courtesy of ordering a new 1...really...it was fine when i took it in so do u think he somehow botched it?

2nd and worryingly my battery was flat as i had 9 days off, after getting a jump i notice an amber wheel light warning and tbh the steering feel felt unusually light to turn and normally when u turn a corner and allow the wheel to return to centre, well this just isnt happening...any ideas, please say its good news, some top up fluid or summit...this tuesday is D-day reg the abs an asr lights

At 77K I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with the shock absorbers at all. My old MK2 Octavia with 100K on the clock was still perfectly fine on the originals when I sold it.

To replace the shock, the mechanic would have needed to disconnect the abs sensor wiring. So either the mechanic has broken it in the process of replacing the shocks that didn't need replacing or the mechanic has forgotten to reconnect the wiring.

Steering light, without reading the fault codes its hard to say, had the steering gone heavy then I would have said angle sensor.
