Does the fan come on much

Featured Replies

I have sat in my car for around 35min after a long drive on tick over waiting for the fan to kick in and it never seems to . My temp gauge always sits in the middle and runs fine but is there a problem or does it just take alot

I've had my SDI 7 years and can't remember the fan coming on ever.

A TDI generates very little waste heat at tickover, so it's normal.

Mine has never come on in the Golf (TDI) either. On the Golfs the fuse for the fans can blow quite often - it could be worth checking the fuse on the top of battery isn't blown. Do they come on when you flick the A/C on?

My RX-8 was a different matter though! Often pull up to my destination with the fans roaring.
