I've just had my Insurance renewal through at £498 fully comp with Morethan. Went on Confused.com and got a quote of £373 with "Morethan". Rang them up and asked them to match it was told they couldn't, but If I cancelled my renewal they could give me the quote on Confused.com. So thats what I did. How MAD is that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Swmbo is in the same boat with swinton 10 quid a month more for renewal, a fiver less on compare the market!

Same here, the wife's renewal came through at £256 with privilege. Went onto gocompare, linked to the privilege site and the same cover came out at £180. Phoned them up and they offered a £5 reduction on the renewal quote, so I cancelled the renewal and took out a new policy.

Their reasoning is to offer 'new' customers a discount to attract new business, so each year we do the same process with both car insurances and the house insurance.

Have done similar things in the past. It's all linked so sometimes they can't give you the lower quote until one of them is cancelled, their system won't let them.

You'd think they'd make their systems intelligent enough not to undercut themselves so obviously. Hardly difficult. Sure you could put in fake but similar details, but their current system just insults you/makes them look like crooks.

Iv been doing this for a few years. It just makes me laugh, when i asked Kwick fit why they charged me so much for my Golf GTi, they gave aload of reasons of been young with relativity powerful car and it was a limited edition model (15 anniversary) so the vehicle is worth more, did a quote with Kwik fit sales man on the phone (him just chatting away about the policy) and told him iv just got a quote from Kwick fit on confused.com for £150 less....he didt have much to say tbh
