Fabia vRS alloy corrosion

Featured Replies

Was cleaning my car today an noticed what looked like corrosion on my rear drivers alloy. About the size of a 5p coin. It feels smooth as if it's under the paint (if that makes sense) just wandered what your thoughts were. Do I have a warranty claim? Has it happened to your alloys? Are they just poorly made alloys. Opinions would be great guys. Will post a pic up ASAP. Can't seem to do it on my iPhone :/

yes warranty claim as long as it not curbed show the dealer

Warranty claim. What alloys are they a lot of guys have had problems with the dark chrome ones.

Some acidic wheel cleaners also cause such results

They are the chrome ones! Not happy at all. An I only ever clean them with a sponge an the autoglym shampoo I clean my car with. Does anybody know how to upload photos to this site ffrom a phone?

Use photo bucket mobile.

Now onto the corrosion, I am also seeing this corrosion and mine will be going to be looked at regarding this. I have only ever used autoglym custom wheel cleaner (for chrome alloys) and mine are starting to flake under the surface. Mine are the dark chrome alloys too and its also my drivers rear alloy that's going first.

P.s My friend works for vw and they get the golf alloys in all the time for this, the ones that look similar to our wheels.

I must have been lucky I too had been using auto glym custom wheel cleaner so it can't be that. Even without looking at them I would say you have a warranty claim.

Had one of the chrome / black wheels on my vRS go bad, replaced under warranty without question.

Had two replaced under warranty so far

3 of the wife's dark alloys being replaced when the weather gets better, Dealers got it in hand, under warranty
