Hill Hold Assist/Control.

Featured Replies

No Hill hold assist on my uk 2012 vRS...it merrily rolled backwards or forwards and I was happy it wasn't on it.

SWMBO has it on her little 2012 Citigo SE.

I have never had an issue with hill starts in either direction, having the hill hold annoys the hell out of me as it does not release quick enough and actually interferes where its not needed and is not switch off able on her car :(

Will depend on what ABS pump is fitted, my original pump didn't have the feature.

The High version which I fitted for Park assist has hill hold

stops the car rolling back for a few seconds when you come off the brake pedal.

also stops the car rolling forward when in reverse

Hello

Can a high version ABS also enable a retrofit of the auto-hold function?

Cheers

I have an 07 L&K 2 litre TDI with the hill hold and it just works without having to think about it.

There is a great list from Eddie showing which ABS pumps support HHC here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/298368-hill-hold-control/?p=3551764

If your ABS pump supports it you should just be able to activate it using VCDS.

Hello

'auto-hold' is a different function than hill-hold  :) . Here is VW's literature on this function.

Basically, when you are driving in traffic, you do not need to keep your foot on the brake after coming to a stand-still (even when the car is in 'D'). If the auto-hold is ON, it automatically engages the brakes for you. When the traffic is moving again, you only need to tap the accelerator to get moving.

I did not think much of this feature, but after using my friend's 09 Passat B6 with this, I love it!  :p  Driving in slow moving traffic is effortless with it.

Would love to have it in my Octavia 2.

Ah yes, sorry, I misunderstood your post. From what I understand, the auto-hold is linked to the use of the electro-mechanical parking brake which the MK2 Octavia never had.

This would suggest that you'd need:

- new control unit (J504) shows up in address 53 in VCDS

- compatible ABS pump

- new rear calipers that support the motors shown here https://sites.google.com/site/1810martin/passat-b6-electric-park-brake

- various wiring and buttons to control the system

There is an overview of the components here: http://vwts.ru/brake/b6/b6_46-03.pdf

The biggest problem is finding a car with a MK60 or MK60EC1 based ABS system that also had auto-hold as a factory option. If such a car exists it means you can probably fit a compatible pump, if no car exists with this combination you're probably out of luck.

This is just based on a quick google so I'm happy to be proved wrong if you can find a MK60 based car with a electro mechanical brake and auto-hold.
