Good luck and all the best if you can mate. Mine's been deadlocked for over a year now. I started going down the door card removal route but it's VERY difficult to access the lock, I bust the wire on my winder in the process  I read on a Golf forum that you need to dremmel away at the casing to get to a ratchet mechanism to unlock it, not gone down that road - YET!. One idea before you get too involved is to check all the fuses and if you have access to VAGCOM/ VCDS, is to get a diagnostic run. If I had to start over, I'd get somebody more competant than I to sort it. I really do wish you all the luck in sorting it, and I'd really appreciate a reply as to how you did it, if you do get it sorted. Once again, good luck. Lee.
