Removing silver door trim

Featured Replies

I’ve seen the thread on removing the doorcards

Once you’ve done that, do you have direct access to the back of the door trims, or do you have to remove something from the back of the doorcard to get to them?

Is it then necessary to cut locating pegs from the back of the trim to remove them?

Any advice gratefully received :)

I think I read something like that in Nick P's project thread. You probably will need to cut them.

I think if you buy a new door card it comes with only the Silver Strip. I would think it's been fitted in the Factory it will be fitted will pop rivets or something alike

I have a feeling on whats coming next

You have direct access to the back of them. Just cut the plastic welds from the back of the locating pegs with a stanley knife. When you've finished painting them gold, you can replace the plastic welds with blobs of glue. I think a hot glue gun or araldite would work best. I had to do mine with superglue which was far from ideal, but after a lot of fiddling I got them mounted solidly.

And what is this supposition that they will be painted gold?

There is such a thing as gold wrap. :)

Not going to do the Fabia to match??????????

Mike

I don't think it would work on the Monte, Mike, being silver

But I could do SWMBO’s black Sport..........

If the pegs have enough "meat", you could also try to fiddle small screws in it. And fit them with washers and screw.

But herefor the pegs have to be a bit bigger in diameter.
